Paid Members Monkee Posted March 30, 2007 Paid Members Share Posted March 30, 2007 Have my contribution for today (some classic 90s indie): Â Mansun - Being a Girl
Keith Houchen
Nailbomb - Wasting Away  Nailbomb were Max Cavalera and Fudge Tunnel's Alex Newport. I think they only did one studio album (1994's Point Blank) and this is the opening song. Lovely and noisy.
Awards Moderator Onyx2 Posted March 30, 2007 Awards Moderator Share Posted March 30, 2007 Nice reminder Monkeeeeeee, Mansun always deserved more. Â Eat some Jeremy Enigk: World Waits, who possesses a voice say wrought with emotion it's just beautiful. I'm a massive fan of his band The Fire Theft, but his solo stuff sounds pretty identical. It's kind of an indie AOR, with a Death Cab For Cutie feel.
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted March 30, 2007 Paid Members Share Posted March 30, 2007 The Raveonettes - Ode to L.A.Liked this. The Beach Boys vs. Dirty Dancing. Really good beat and feel throughout.Jeremy Enigk: World WaitsReally amazing voice. Thought the song was good. If I ever kill myself, I'll do it to this.Dropkick Murphys - ForeverThis was pretty good. I didn't love it, but I think I would if I could slam the volume up, bang my head and lord of the dance it up.Mansun - Being a GirlDon't think I'll be going out of my way to listen to Mansun again.William Elliott Whitmore - MidnightBest of the lot. A really soulful song. I can't believe the guy isn't a black, middle aged crooner.
Vito
'Carry On' - Elliott  This track usually ends up being included on most of the compilations I make for no reason other than that I really like it. I can't remember if I've posted this song already on UKFF but here it is anyway.   'God Knows...' - Aya Hirano  This song featured on an episode of the TV show The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya, the series is due to be released in America soon and I'm confident that it's going to be huge. IrishDave
Today, I give you In Time by Mark Collie. A song written for the film adaptation of the Punisher, you may remember it is performed by Collie during the film. This is the full version from the soundtrack, and it's a beautiful and chilling piece of music.

False Alarm!
I've not actually heard The Fire Theft, which is Odd considering SDRE are pretty much one of my favourite bands. Â Anyway, just uploaded this. Â "Black Rock" Edited March 30, 2007 by Generator

Guest Who's got the crack?
http://www.sendspace.com/file/16gjm4 Â ^ The Wombats - Movin' To New York. Â I can't think of a witty/informative description, but it's quite simply the most joyous, catchiest song I've heard this year. Perfect indie. Awards Moderator Onyx2 Posted March 31, 2007 Awards Moderator Share Posted March 31, 2007 For fans of the Enigk song above, I present The Fire Theft's Summertime. Â It's achingly powerful, as Enigk ramps up the vocals til the end. A gorgeous sweeping sound, and one of my all time faves.
IrishDave
Today, I give you fair people "His World" by Crush 40. By no means one of the greatest songs ever, but still bloody good, no-nonsense rock number. 5 points to the person who places the game series Crush 40 provide themes for (including this very song). Parkamarka
Oh, and I've gotta say, I enjoyed William Elliott Whitmore, and Seasick Steve. I could picture my self listening to these, Where would you recommend starting?Either of the albums I've got (Ashes to Dust & Song of the Blackbird) are worth getting, and the two songs I posted are fairly representative of the respective albums. Ashes is a bit more upbeat.
