@SpursRiot2012 slight tangent here while I'm waiting for me pal to get in touch but something you might find interesting and differs from the usual is how media is aimed and promoted towards people with disabilities. A lot of cities including London use loop systems for deaf people on buses and offices, along with certain places of interest offering a number of accessible formats for blind customers... the national gallery for example. https://www.nationalgallery.org.uk/visiting/access/blind-partially-sighted

It could be something to incorporate in to your research that others might not think of.

Some other bits:

London - improve awareness campaigns: https://www.cilip.org.uk/community-diversity-equality-group/events/london-improving-our-services-blind-partially-sighted-people

And one that I referred to a lot during my studies (Creative Industries BA)... 'Attitude is everything' are an org which award music venues/events on accessibility for those with disabilities, everything from wheelchair access, customer service, ticket booking systems, loads of stuff. This particular link shows who is signed up to their best charter of practice but the rest of the sight is great obviously for info. Once a venue is awarded, they can use the award to advertise to the deaf and dialsabled community, some of whom only attend venues who have an award as they know they will be less discriminated against.

There is a shit load you could find regarding media/disabilities/London if it's a potential avenue of interest.

Coming up to Christmas you might see more pop-up shops for online retailers too. A couple of years ago Etsy had a shop near Leicester Square. This is the opposite of the main trend these days with retailers opting for online rather than physical.

You should also keep an eye out for augmented reality or even mixed media like Shazaming ads to get more info or download a product. There’s always loads of stuff this time of year mixing physical and digital. Especially look out for retailers’ Christmas windows and how they use different media.

I've applied for a job vacany through applying on my phone, problem is I received an email after said application asking me to apply on a computer or laptop about ten days later. I only saw the mail today, two days after said email arrived , so I went to apply through my  account with said company but the vacancy has closed, although it says my original phone based application has been received. What the fuck is going on?

The industry is trying to figure out how to get people to apply on mobiles. We see millions of people look at jobs on mobile and then not follow through with an application. On desktop this figure is much higher.

This is just one system. Best thing you can do is to contact the recruiter direct and ask if you can send an application.

Has anyone had any experience with neurologist referrals from your GP, in particular, how long it takes for the appointment to come through? If such a thing as a pediatric neurologist exists on the NHS, and hopefully it does, will that make any difference to the referral time?

In all honesty pal, I think referrals to any specialists these days are fully dependent upon your area, the need for that specialist/amount of referrals and how many specialists are based in your area. Add to that how much of a priority you are compared to others.

For example, at the start of last year the waiting list for the child mental health service (Camhs) was approx 8 months. Where as 15 mins away in Durham it was 3 months.

Yeah, I thought as much. Oh well. Hopefully it'll be soon 😔

Either way best of luck. One bit of advice I give to anyone that I work with is to put pressure on your GP to chase up the specialist. Book an appointment, state you're not coping and tell them you at least need a time frame to help put your mind at ease as it's causing anxiety not knowing. Until the specialist has picked you up, the GP has a duty of care.

Thanks mate. It's actually for my youngest, she's having what looks like infantile spasms. Desperate to get her seen as it can lead to developmental problems (she's 15 months).

Well even more so, I really hope things get sorted for her soon.

Sad to hear that bro.

I know that feeling. I've been waiting 13 months for an emergency endoscope down my stomach I was supposed to have. I keep on having to go back to the doctors to get me put back on the list as the bastard GP before just plain forgot, I was sitting in hospital gowns watching BBC Breakfast in May 2016 when my Gallbladder operation was cancelled very last minute. God bless 'em :@ . Jeezo.

OFF-TOPIC A BIT: Nothing more lonely feeling than when the nurse basically says "Put your shit in the basket and you'll get it IF / WHEN you come out" and then leaves you. Feels like the "Incredible Hulk" TV series ending tune is playing as she is walking away.

P.S. In Scotland though.

Hi guys, just a quick one. I have received a P800 tax refund (result) for the period of April 2016 to April 2017.

It all looks OK to me, but as someone who has been struggling with money, and things (don't worry I'm not gonna recap the whole thing), how likely is it that they've made a mistake? What I don't want to do is use the money then be told I need to give it back. Is it worth getting the refund and putting it in my savings account for a bit just in case? I could do with using the money to be honest, but would rather be safe than sorry.
