Paid Members tiger_rick Posted April 12, 2017 Paid Members Share Posted April 12, 2017 (edited) Couple of interesting new bits on Landy's YouTube. A highlights show from 1996 called "Blast Off". Looks like a concept or pilot as the commercials are't in place. It's from late 1996 and is very out of place with where the WWF was going. All Raw highlights, I think. The opener, Jesse Jammes vs. Justin Bradshaw is a decent little match. Some good footage and interviews from a UK tour too. He's also uploaded this. It's called WWF New York and looks to be a syndicated show. Michael Cole and Vinny Ru on commentary. It's from the night before St Valentines Day Massacre 1999 and was aired after Saturday Night Raw. Features Raw highlights but also an early Edge & Christian vs. The Hardy Boyz match. Show looks great in the Skydome in Toronto. Paid Members JNLister Posted April 12, 2017 Paid Members Share Posted April 12, 2017 (edited) Blast Off was effectively a repackaged version of Mania, which was the weekend recap show on USA, but also shown on a smaller cable station, WGN. Mania was replaced on USA with Livewire, which aired live and had call ins from listeners. As the time slot was different on WGN, they couldn't air it live there so went with Blast Off instead. WWF New York was a localised version of Shotgun/Shotgun Challenge. Edited April 12, 2017 by JNLister

WyattSheepMask
That's from when they changed him from the mummy to the ninja, and was at some point renamed Super Giant Ninja like a badly translated video game. Ron was always the Yeti but it was meant to Jorge 'Giant' Gonzalez. The unveiling of the character was delayed as when Gonzalez couldn't get his visa in time, so in the buildup to Halloween Havoc The Yeti only appeared briefly (breaking out of a block ice for some reason) at the end of Nitro during one of Schiavone's "we're out of time!" moments. Gonzalez then had an attack of diabetes at the Halloween Havoc PPV and had to be taken to hospital, Reis filled the role on the PPV covered in bandages to conceal his identity so that Gonzalez could be unraveled from the bandages on his return at a later date, but he never did due to his health. or so the story goes
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted April 23, 2017 Paid Members Share Posted April 23, 2017 i'd never heard that before. I remember him being the Super Giant Ninja, never knew he was still labelled the Yetti whilst doing that gimmick for a time though. It's all gold though, wrestlecrap at it's finest.
