Superinjunctions and the like have rarely not backfired - Ryan Giggs being the perfect example of that, but there are others which have basically just resulted in the Mandela Effect setting in.

The Streisand Effect.

The Mandela Effect is people misremembering things that they genuinely believed (Mandela died in prison, Fruit of the Loom had a cornucopia in the logo, etc). The Streisand Effect is when Barbra Streisand tried to stop people seeing information about her mansion, leading to lots of people sharing information about her mansion.

...or is this now a case of the Mandela Effect?

Streisand Effect, bollocks - you're right. I typoed, getting my effects mixed up.

Not the thread for it, but I'd never actually heard of anyone thinking Mandela dying in prison; certainly not to the point it was widespread, so I think a case could be made for 'the Mandela Effect' in itself being a victim of the Mandela Effect...

Yeah personally I think the Pugwash effect would be more suitable.

The woman who invented the Mandela Effect - who was a credulous paranormal "ghosthunter" type - believed it and insists it was a really widespread belief, with people being convinced that they remember seeing a big state funeral in the 1980s. There's two points I always bring up to counter that - one is that I doubt you'll find a single person in South Africa with that false belief (and probably not in the UK either), and the other is that you'd hardly expect a political prisoner to have been given a big public state funeral!

I'm absolutely certain it used to be Barbra StreisLAND.

Is that a Streisand-Mandela Effect?

Streisandela Effect

"In a separate legal matter, well-known children’s book author David Walliams has launched an injunction against ITN and the Guardian. This action highlights ongoing tensions between public figures and the media, particularly around issues of privacy and defamation. The case promises to attract significant attention given Walliams’ public persona and the prominence of the media organizations involved."

So I live in the USA right and I always think it is StreisLAND, I say it more often than not, and get ridiculed because of it. I have always thought this mistake was something that was ingrained in me from growing up in the UK. So seeing you post this has me even more convinced. Confidence bias meets Nelson Mandela tring to hide photos of his mansion innit.

The biggest one for me is a dip dab, when my entire life I thought it was dib dab. Everyone in the pocket of big sherbert.

What the actual fuck?! My whole life is a lie!

I enjoy reading Mandela Effects, but never imagined I'd ever experience one.
