I don't know the series, but just looked it up and the dates don't match - the smoking ban was introduced in Jersey in 2007 (about six months before England), and Nathan For You started in 2013. It looks like there was an exemption for smoking on stage in New York, and the ban came in there in 2003, so presumably that's where the idea originated. Quote

The smell of the cigar smoke everywhere was genuinely lovely and it evokes memories every time I smell one. Edit: just remembered I saw this recently. Imagine the smell of the gaff! Just reading through the thread for the first time, so sorry about quoting a 3 day old post! On the video, the bloke lights up in the shop. I've never smoked(or even tried one), so the smoking ban never effected me past pubs now smelling of stale piss and sweat instead of smoke, and this never looked into the in's and outs. Shirtie Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I smoked from the age of 17 ( Marlboro reds) till about 30, There was a Tabaconist during my collage days that sold the soft packs of American cigs, I always bought them. About 6 years ago I got stressed at work and bummed a Cig off someone and that was all it took for me to start again. I remember going to the shop.to.buy some and being horrified that they were now 12 quid a packet when during collage I only paid 4:95 I think. I've been vaping for a few years now and slowly dropping my strength level. Quote

Started probably at 15 getting a pack of 10 silk cut. Absolutely disgusting, barely smoked one and chucked the rest. Fast forward going to gigs around 17/18...BACK WHEN WE WAS A REAL COUNTRY...and you could smoke inside. Smoking cigs during band changeover was a great way to pass the time while trying to look cool as fuck. Being the total poser I was at this time was a rotation of marlboro, lucky strike, and camels. Looking back there would be nights I'd smoke 8-10 in just a few hours, but then not touch them at all until the next gig. I went decades being a social smoker though. Drinking was always what caused it. So much so that I'd end up with various packs at home just because I'd go out, get drunk, by a pack, smoke a few, then come home with them. Took me a long long time to really kick that habit of drinking and smoking. Honestly can't remember the last one I've had. Very rarely I'll have a cigar at a celebration or something - always start off saying "These are great, why don't we smoke more of them" and then end up saying "Fuck me these are awful" about 20 minutes in Quote

Went back and forth from fags (B&H, Marlboro Gold, Sovs, Mayfair, Mayfair menthols) to baccy. Used to get those 12.5 g Amber Leaf with the filters and Papers. About 5-6 years ago maybe longer. Gave up and moved onto the Juul vapes. Now I don't smoke fags at all and can't stand the smell of them haha however I am hooked on vaping instead. And I defo vape more than I ever smoked! Vaping nicotine addiction is horrendous and I'm hoping to give that up but it's deffo harder than the fags. Quote
