It was all a bit Death of Stalin the past few weeks. Bless Jimmy, but chinny reckon saying he was round Hogan's doing karaoke 48 hours ago. Edited July 24, 2025 by Gus Mears Quote

Awards Moderator Onyx2 Posted July 24, 2025 Awards Moderator Posted July 24, 2025 I thought he was "Immortal"? It is actually unreal to imagine a wrestling landscape where he isn't around any more. Kinda sad his last onscreen thing was getting booed to the hills. Yes it turned out he was a massive wrong 'un, but I just can't ignore what he meant when I was 10 years old. I was desperate for him to overturn that big baddie Randy Savage at WrestleMania V and it's the moment that turned me into a fan. Took a massive dump over his own legacy sure, but I was definitely a fan once. Quote

But no, Hogan and Austin are both in contention for that. Hogan probably edges it on how big of a name he was in two separate decades. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted July 24, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 24, 2025 Not gonna bother pre-empting about how his rep took a battering in later years because it goes without saying. We all know how we feel about that. Just on the impact he had on wrestling though, there was none like him. He was never my favourite, I always preferred Warrior and Savage over him. Admittedly his heyday was on the slide a bit by the time I became a fan in 92 though, if I’d been born a few years earlier and got into it in the late 80s, maybe I’d have seen him differently. I liked him but always like Warrior and Macho more. Even still, you knew he was a big deal the second you saw him. This is a massive one obviously. Sadly we’ve all been conditioned to kind of get used to wrestler deaths happening fairly regularly at this point. But Hulk being gone makes it really feels like a bit of your childhood has died. Hogan, Savage, Warrior, Piper, Andre, both members of LOD, Bulldog etc. We’re at the point where there’s more of those larger than life stars from that golden era who are gone than there are still here. sivy Posted July 24, 2025 Posted July 24, 2025 Greatest babyface of all time. When I got into wrestling as a kid it was summerslam 91. He was one of the 4 guys who i loved straight away. 3 are now dead, it was just his charisma that came out and drew you in. The aftermath of his matches, when he celebrated was such an highlight and made him such an icon. Too me when I was a kid he was one of my superheroes not batman or superman it was Hulk Hogan. In his 84-91 run he was an underrated worker too. His matches with bossman, warrior, savage were all really good too. Quote
