Players are only worth what teams are willing to pay for them but the fact that only Spurs saw fit to spend what they did on two players who had Arsenal, City and United interested in them would suggest to me that they overpaid a bit. Saying that we overpaid for Virgil and Alisson and nobody ever mentions there price tags. I think Spurs have two excellent midfielders regardless of price. Quote

I read he's on a fixed 150k a week at Newcastle, which would have him around 5th on on our wage bill currently (Simons and Romero on 200 are at the top) so he's definitely going to be our top earner I reckon, which is fair enough. Surprised he ended up at Newcastle and if it hadn’t have been for his 10 month ban he’d probably have pushed for a move sooner. I suspect the real stinger will be when Bruno G fucks off. I'd say it's overpaying based on the fact he had one really good season followed by an average one, but he could very well become one of the best midfielders in the world within the next couple of years. As a Newcastle fan, I'm not really thinking 'Get in! I will be gutted - GUTTED - if Bruno leaves. He's the heartbeat of the team and a beloved character. I would understand it more if it's to City or Arsenal, mind, not consecutive 17th placed Spurs. The writings been on the wall for Tonali for ages. He's been pretty upfront about Champions League football being the minimum of what he expected to stay at the club. I know his missus went to London to have their baby but I don't know if she stayed there. I know Spurs obviously don't have Champs League but I can understand foregoing that for an extra five million a year and a happy wife. I think Bruno's family is much more settled in the area and from what I understand he's been offered another revised contract worth a chunk of change. He seems to be the only name we're currently seriously rumoured with but I'm not holding out much hope on his ability when you've just spent 200 odd million making sure he's nowhere near game time in midfield for next season.
