The way they’ll probably look at it is that wrestlers like Ospreay, Hangman, MJF and Omega would be in WWE if AEW wasn’t around. ‘Sasha Banks’ would likely have made her return, and same goes for ‘Dean Ambrose’. In an alternate universe, that money-spinning Shield reunion has happened by now. 

No AEW also means they dictate the rate of pay. They could get away with paying wrestlers less money, and that’s probably valued more by them than any number of wrestlers they manage to nab from their rival promotion.

This, honestly, is how AEW ended up being my primary brand. Just having to watch dynamite each week (you can skip Collision and not have an issue with missing the story beats) was miles easier than watching Raw and Smackdown when Raw was 3 hours, and now Smackdown is.

That's a failing on AEW's part. They should be ensuring stuff like this is in the contract like the other cunts do. Assuming WWE didn't already have it booked, in which case, that's up to AEW to decide if it's damaging. But if they're going to run anywhere, get it contracted that they can't run the area before or after. They were doing this stuff to WCW decades ago, gotta learn from history.

Given that the 2300 is almost solely a wrestling, boxing, and MMA venue, I wonder if they won't offer exclusivity clauses - it's not like running the O2 and saying, "you can't have any other wrestling here for six months", when wrestling isn't even close to their big earner.

Still something for AEW to consider, and I expect they will have exclusivity clauses with other promotions - though I wonder if they were prepared to just take the hit in this case; they knew WWE wouldn't run a major show there, so it's "only" NXT, and they might have been taking a gamble on the press coverage being more favourable to AEW, because it's so obvious what WWE are playing at. Maybe Tony Khan even knew this was coming, and that's why he made such a point about discussing counter-programming at the Double or Nothing press conference, to ensure that the topic was already in the news cycle.

And if you are you're a big AEW fan but decide you'd rather watch The Great American Bash live than All In live, then perhaps you're not that much of an big AEW fan to begin with.

There are plenty of people who wouldn’t consider themselves AEW or WWE fans, they’re just wrestling fans - both companies have what it takes to put on a card or match that appeals to either set of fans. I’d consider myself in that category - both companies have capacity to win me over and both can put me off. I like good wrestling and good wrestling storylines - something AEW is nailing this year, while WWE (in my opinion) was more compelling story-wise last year.

However, what I’m saying isn’t specific to which show you want to watch at any given time, it’s more about the time you have. If All In is a 5/6-hour epic, it’s going to be hard for a good number of people to watch it live or in one sitting. And if you don’t do that, you potentially get the results of matches you’d like to see spoiled for you. It becomes a case of whizzing through the PPV and skipping portions of it, so you can finish it in the time you have. For some people that’s fine, but I’m the kind of sad case that likes to watch a whole PPV.

I'm one of these people. I've always watched like this when I watch alone - watch the matches I want to first and then catch anything else I have time for after but if it's spoilered that's okay.

Double Or Nothing was the first AEW PPV I've ever bought. If I'm being honest, it's because the links on the places I usually Watch Wrestling had all been taken down, but I just HAD to see the show. I think I'll probably end up doing the same for All In.

The last few months is also the longest I've watched weekly wrestling TV since about 2008. It's so satisfying and feel-good and, as Duke said, I like how their TV is positioned now - you can keep up with just one show a week, but there's Collision for the real sickos.

This doesn't really sound like anything to do with WWE also having a show on at the same time though?   You're just saying All In will be too long.

Outside of the announced matches, I'm not too sure what else will be on the card.

Okada/Omega would be a lock, you'd think. Cope/Christian vs FTR seemed like the logical way to go but Christian Cage has barely wrestled this year and from a story perspective I have no idea how you get to Cope and Christian teaming back up in just a few weeks. But if they don't go with that then I have no idea what you do with Copeland or FTR.

I assume they'll do a Casino Gauntlet which will probably cover a lot of guys like Speedball, Mark Briscoe, Ricochet etc. Possibly a big ladder match or some other gimmick for either the TNT tile or Trios title. I doubt they will do a Stadium Stampede this close to Anarchy in the Arena as they are essentially the same thing.

Swerve, MJF, Willow, Hurt Syndicate the Young Bucks and Ospreay don't seem to have clear matches at the moment.

Hopefully things start to look clear very soon, I'd hate for the card to have a thrown together rushed feel like these big stadium shows can often have.

MJF v Lashley seemed likely a while ago but I'm not sure now. Surely you get Willow v Shafir at some point? Would be ideal for here in a garbage match (possibly double meaning).

You could easily get to Swerve & Ospreay v Young Bucks based on recent TV linking them all. I'm not sure I would though, I think I'd probably keep them for the big schmozz at the end before Hangman wins.

That was part of the general conversation - I’m not saying it will be too long either, I’m saying I hope it isn’t. But if I have an interest in watching both shows, it’s unlikely I’ll have the time to, and show length is certainly a factor there.

Maybe you don’t do C&C vs FTR just yet. Perhaps there’s another chapter in the story before we get to that point - they probably could get to that match before All In, but perhaps the big moment that comes at that show is Christian saving Copeland or something like that, with the actual team-up coming later.

I recon they'll do Cope/Christian vs FTR at the big Toronto PPV. You'd think they might want to tease the initial reunion for All In. Setup Cope/Someone (Garcia?) vs FTR with backstage stuff teasing Christian having Copes back but they'd need to move fast to build to that. I dunno FTR enlist him as special guest referee for heel reasons?

Swerve/Osprey vs Bucks feels somewhat a big deal and makes storyline sense.

A fun match would be Hurt Syndicate (MJF not MVP) vs Opps for the trios titles.  I assume whatever HS does on PPV will be more about their story so why not have MJF cost them the trios with a match full of fun pairings. Guess they should probably defend the tag belts though..

Willow has whatever going on with Kris Statlander and Marina Shafir and weirdly Gabe Kidd? Fuck it, tag match. Sorted

Putting NXT on in the 2300 arena a few weeks before AEW go in there must be the absolute pettiest, pointless thing they could do. It's like Carlsberg giving out a free can outside a beer festival. Yeah, you'll get people to drink it but the fans are still going to go in. That's what the fans in Philly will do. The only time the don't come to that venue is when the product is the drizzling shits. 

I expect WWE will throw out all the ECW nostalgia again thinking AEW will do the same. Then it would be nice if All Elite focus on the twice as long post ECW history of the venue with nods to CZW and ROH instead.
