Edge might be a jam-up guy and a fellow Canadian but the best match there is probably TLC and even then he had the help of 4 other wrestlers (5 if you count Bubba the fat sack of diarrhoea) and a load of props. Even the Eddie match was nowhere near the best of their series that year.

Was thinking that, and then thought, just for the purposes of absurdist humour, who would be Mr. Backlash, or Mr. No Way Out, or Mr. Vengeance (who would get no sympathy)?

Anyway, the rather underwhelming thought came to me that when it comes to Mr. Royal Rumble, it's gotta be Kane. Even if it's not fair to Flair.

I might be misremembering (so please correct me) I know we are saying Shawn is Mr Wrestlemania and that, as mentioned, Hogan and Brock we won’t be giving any titles to because of their views/behaviour

But wasn’t there a story from Jannetty about him and Michaels drugging women? Didn’t Beefcake also tell the story? Where did that end up? Not been able to enjoy any of those three matches since then, but I didn’t follow what happened next in the story

Shawn isn't Mr Wrestlemania. Two boring singles matches at 8 and 9. Only ok main event at 11, and a way too long match with Bret at 12. Big sulk instead of wrestling at 13 and then an understandably sub par performance at 14 because of his injury. After the comeback it was better, but a lot of the earlier ones a rough as.

If we’re looking at it purely from the viewpoint of a body of work, I would argue that the only ones who rival Hogan for the Mr. Wrestlemania moniker are Cena or the Undertaker (for the Streak alone). But, not having watched any WMs since 28, I would defer to others' knowledge.

But if we're looking at it also from people who haven't completely tarnishes their legacies as complete binfires of human beings, it's probably between Cena, Bret, maybe Savage?

Yep - got to agree. '87 and '88 he was involved in those two mega team tag matches. I think '87 he was in the last three teams, and in '88 he went out a bit earlier (but it was to the awesome team of the Brain Busters so he's forgiven), '89 he was one of the last three, and was eliminated by Savage, so again nothing wrong with that. In '90 he had the best 5 minutes of the entire show with Dibiase (plus good on-screen swearing too!) and has the accolade of being the first man ever to face the Undertaker on PPV. I think it was a DQ in '91. Not the best of matches, but probably far better than anything else on the show. '92 was a barnburner,
