Mania will be interesting, hopefully they boo Roman, that stupid twat. I mean, i'd probably dial it back a touch. Trump won 49.8% of the popular vote. The likelihood is lots of otherwise normal seeming people voted for him. He was the candidate given by the mainstream right in America. I don't think it's time to pack in the Netflix subscription on the back of it. Reigns is entitled to vote for whoever he likes. It's just disappointing. Like learning someone is a Boris Johnson supporter or something. It does stagger me though that so many people see 'competent leadership' in Trump, though. Quote

Trump is a hot button issue. Maybe packing it in is a bit extreme, but maybe it has to be? I don't know. Its disappointing. I like WWE, But I have morals. Quote

No, that's not an unfair point (though he is someone who cheats on his pregnant wife whilst she had cancer, is a racist, is proven to have tried to obstruct an investigation into sexual assault by one of his ministers and had historic allegations of impropriety made against him), though I think you can't get around the fact that Trump was the candidate of the mainstream right and won 49.8% of the popular vote. If that's the bar for boycotting things, more power to you but the reality is you'll probably have to boycott everything American as I can't imagine there's much that hasn't been touched by the hand of a Trump voter. If in the long, long history of WWE and their very public issues, including being run by another rapist for decades, inherited by his son in law who decided to do monkey impressions when taking on a black wrestler, claimed to know nothing about what was going on in the office next door, then said he hadn't even read anything to do with the accusations - let's be honest this list could go on for the rest of eternity and still be missing loads of it - and you're still watching I'm not sure what more they can throw at people to get them to stop watching. Everyone would find it hard to overnight give up something they really love, very few of us would be here if we didn't love wrestling at some point after all even if people are lapsed fans, and I don't hold anything against anyone who still watches but I'd be surprised that this was the last straw for people. Just wait until staying up on Sunday night to enjoy Mania that Stars and Stripes Forever starts blaring out and Trump gets a massive love in before dropping it at least! Quote
Mr_Danger Posted April 17, 2025 Posted April 17, 2025 I’ve definitely maxed out my ‘separate the man from the character card’ for wrestling over the years but it never really surprises or shocks me that millionaires like politicians who they think look after their own interests most. It also never surprises me that wrestlers are really thick. Still, Roman is at least 10% less sexy to me now. Sheamus is truly the last great hope for wrestling fans. Seems like he’s sound, supports the good guys of footy and even on his YouTube work out video with Liv Morgan there wasn’t even the slightest hint that he wanted to sniff her hair when she wasn’t looking. It does feel like they know they've got nothing to sell. I know we've discussed ad nauseum how bad the booking has been, but I think this week so far has said to me that they're having a massive crisis of confidence as a business. They're throwing wobblers about the fans and doing interviews about wanting to sign talent from the other company. It feels like such a self inflicted whack in the plums this Mania. If AEW was more readily available on an easily watchable app for my TV, I'd be considering a more permanent switch for a while again. Quote
Cousin Jim Bob Posted April 17, 2025 Posted April 17, 2025 At least in terms of Trump they haven't gone the full UFC route yet where he is front row ring side and on camera constantly at big US events. With competitors bowing down and giving their praise to their emperor. I know he has in the past though, didn't the twat sit through some of the worst Wrestlemaina's. Quote

I’ve not seen the full interview, but presumably Nick Khan was simply asked that question rather than it being a case of him volunteering that information; much as Tony Khan once said he’d have been interested in Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens when he was asked once. While the Shad Khan comment was definitely trolling, I think too much has been made of Khan’s comments about wanting to sign AEW talent - he’s stating the obvious really. Why wouldn’t they want to sign many of these wrestlers? If WWE could take their pick of AEW wrestlers, they’d strip the roster bare - it’s rammed with talent. But ultimately, that’s not how it works. I’m not sure either company has signed a wrestler from the opposition that could be considered a serious blow to the other, even if the signing has worked out well - the fans had turned on Cody; Edge had served his purpose in WWE; Jade Cargill seemed like a loss at the time but I’m not sure she’s even capable of the level of match the AEW women’s division is now having - the top of the card in both AEW and WWE has remained fairly stable. I suspect there are a lot of wrestlers who are perfectly happy staying where they are. Edited April 18, 2025 by RedTwoster Quote
