To the best of my knowledge you haven't otherwise made sweeping statements about boycotting brands regarding anything political, so I don't really see the equivalence. That said, just do what I want to do quietly without the need to make any sweeping statement about my own personal moral outrage, is probably my answer.

People should just do whatever the fuck they want without feeling to moralise externally, unless they themselves are able to display purity beyond giving up what they're already happy to do without.

But like I say, trying to find a gracious way out of this topic as I don't think I'm really adding anything. Those that are boycotting WWE because of this, I doubt I'll see them again in the contemporary WWE threads for obvious reasons, but I have no interest in falling out with those who are continuing to watch as that's basically my position too.

You keep bringing up this idea that people are treating WWE as uniquely evil when it simply isn’t true. They’re discussing the wrestling company doing the thing because this is the wrestling forum. “Jeff Bezos is a twat” would be discussed in off topic. Musk and other villainous billionaires have in fact been discussed there many times. 

You’re not moved by this, you think it’s a non-story and it won’t affect your WWE viewing. That’s fine, but nobody is telling you to boycott, nobody is saying you support Trump, nobody has said you’re defending WWE. These “misunderstandings” of your position haven’t actually happened in the thread at all. 

People just don’t like being patronisingly told that big businesses all do bad things as if you’re the only one enlightened enough to understand this. They don’t like being told how bothered they should be, what constitutes a “real” boycott or to stop “clutching their pearls” so they’ve pushed back against that.
 

The position of being the only one sensible enough to not get wound up about things is just a maddening one for people to deal with. Yes I imagine we do disagree on a number of things politically, but you often go to “people think I’m a right winger when I’m not” and that is rarely what is actually happening.

Asking questions, I'm generally in favour of, but suggesting equivalence to Triple H turning up that prominently at Linda's hearing, I don't get. 

Triple H, Stephanie and Linda spent New Year's Eve at Mar-a-Lago (one of the few celebrities mentioned, along with Elon Musk).

He's getting camera ops with him at TKO events.

And then turning up at Linda's hearing. That's all within the last 7 weeks.

If you don't care, that's fine, but I don't get treating Triple H like some smol bean who's just unintentionally there while his mother in law goes against trans rights and black history.

I’ll hold my hands up and admit I hadn’t been aware that Shad Khan had changed his tune on Trump - from googling, I can see that he claimed to have donated because he liked his economic policies; but he’s since been vocally against him - so with that context on mind, you’re absolutely right to say what you’ve said. That was ignorance on my part - I wrongly thought Khan sr was an active donor, and I’m happy to hold my hands up and admit that.

As far as Triple H is concerned, I just don’t think him being there was an enlightening moment on his true nature, no more than I feel that way about Cheryl Hines; not that I think Triple H is a Democrat. If it were my mother-in-law, I’d be stubborn enough not to go, but I can understand why you would.

That said, he’s opened himself up to be asked about his views - and even if he hadn’t been there I strongly feel like he should be asked about WWE opting not to celebrate Black History Month after doing so for years, who decided to bring Hulk Hogan in from the cold and whether he condones his views and also if wrestlers would be allowed to show their support for LBGBTQ+ causes as they have in the past. Heck, WWE has shown its support for LBGBTQ+ causes in the past - he should be asked whether they would again. 

I still think Tony Khan should be asked some of these questions - but not because I think he has  a case to answer. I just think it’s important he’s at least asked to share his thoughts. In the current climate, one of the most powerful men in wrestling reiterating his support for the trans community, for example, would matter a hell of a lot.

Take her for a Maccies like normal. Her needs to keep regulated and happy trump* taking a stance. 

 

It's probably a franchised restaurant and they are likely just paying for the privilege of having a daft, big, yellow, letter M out front; and even if McDonald's is evil, their employees still gots to eat.

There's this new novel concept as well, not sure how aware people are of it, but you can actually buy food, from a restaurant like McDonald's for example, and take it out with you rather than sitting in. Can eat it in the comfort of your own home, on a park bench, anywhere in fact, and negates the need to sit with loud people etc.

Probably never catch on.
