I would say Chris and Mike Von Erich - but then again I'm not sure how much to blame they are as, although pushed way beyond their talents, it's likely they had no choice with old Fritz weilding a stick over them to uphold the family name.

I was given to understand that Chris was actually quite popular with the fans, but that it was physical limitations like brittle bones, rather than lack of skill, that prevented him from going further?

Fast forward and he ALMOST took Cody's spot and is on the board. Plus no consequencen for fucking up long term booking plans.

Yeah, but that's because he was really talented, not because they were appeasing Rocky Johnson. That might have opened the door, but fuck all past that really.

Oh I certainly acknowledge his ability and talent. Doesn't necessarily negate the fact he has had advantage as a result of his family and lineage.

Totally agree. But the topic is "biggest nepo baby" not "biggest nepo baby who had negative effect on business."

I see, you're coming at this from a different angle than I. I took biggest nepo baby to mean person who's familial connection got them furthest on least talent, rather than what you seem to be saying which is 'biggest star with family connections', If it's the latter, it's a bit of a dull conversation because that can only be the Rock.

The term 'Nepo Baby' isn't necessarily a negative or derogatory one, so there are different ways to approach the question. Vince Jr is pretty clearly the biggest Nepo Baby in pro wrestling history. He was successful in his own right, built his own empire, but wouldn't have been in position to do that if not for nepotism.

If we're talking about who has had the biggest career purely because of nepotism, that's tougher to answer. Probably Shane or Stephanie.

To me, "Nepo Baby" is an inherent negative, it means somebody who is only in the position they're in because of their family, not someone who is talented but got their start because of the family. Barney Walsh is a Nepo Baby, but Jared Harris isn't. 

I think right now Ava must be the worst, but historically you can't really argue against George Gulas. 
 

There's plenty in Lucha Libre too - Santo Jr. is probably the worst wrestler I've ever seen in a main event match.

Thing is, Shane and Stephanie showed some degrees of talent in what they did, whether in front of the camera or behind it, so they sort of partly justified it retroactively.

From all the discussion on here, it sounds like George Gulas must be the definitive answer to that particular question - it's one thing to be given a job and status through nepotism and do nothing, but to actively damage the business of said relative and continue to be pushed? That's real world old-school tie stuff right there.

Really it's not 'biggest' nepo baby but worst nepo baby, as we've established the term itself doesn't really have to be because they're bad at what they do. There are plenty who have had doors opened for them but more than justified their positions and you can imagine they would've succeeded regardless in similar ways.

But yeah the ones you see like Barney Walsh you think wouldn't be anywhere near a role like that in a million years if his dad wasn't Bradley.

As with anything I'm fairly sure the term has been around for ages and has probably just become more popularised in recent years, but with that being used in a more negative way.
