Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted January 8, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 8, 2025 In the NXT thread @Supremo floated the idea that Ava is the biggest nepo baby in wrestling. Now I'm not going to 100% disagree with that but GM of NXT is hardly a massive role within wrestling, even though she isn't actually talented enough to pull it off convincingly. For me Erik Watts would have to be right up there. The amount of exposure he got after 3 months of training was ridiculous. There is no way he gets that push without his dad in WCW at that time and that whole initial run parlayed into a 14 year career which is unfathomable to me. There are lots of examples of nepotism in wrestling, it's virtually built on it, so who is your pick for the ultimate wrestling nepo baby? Quote

At least Erik Watts actually got somewhere from god awful to a decent enough worker when he was doing late 90's enhancement for WCW. But George Gulas killed a territory stone dead because his dad tried to make him a star so badly, it broke his relationship with Jerry Jarrett and lead to a Tennessee promotional war in the late 70's. If you've ever seen any footage of Gulas, he's absolutely rotten to watch as well. Greg Gagne was at least a good worker, David Flair was dog shit but had a bit of a charm about him with Crowbar & Daffney. But Nick Gulas destroyed his nest egg and business because his son was absolutely horrible at wrestling and he absolutely refused to see otherwise. "Daddy says sell!" I was going to try and top this and say Vince himself, but then while he bought his Dad's gaff, Stephanie got handed the head writers gig didn't she. I know absolutely sod all about The Rock's daughter, but if she's not wrestling at all then she must be quite awful. They'd have canned her if it wasn't for her dad though, it feels like reading about it, it's one of those deals where she's obviously shit but what you gonna do, so it's pretty rank. Quote

For the Jags 100% but He is basically squandering his inheritance with AEW and Shad knows nothing about wrestling, or football the way the Jags are playing to be fair. Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted January 8, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 8, 2025 I have a soft spot for WCW David Flair with Daffney and Crowbar. I would actually go as far as to say if David Flair wasn’t so shit in-ring they actually could have been a hot act. You look at Ric and Charlotte though and you do wonder how David never sussed it. My nomination would be the entire Anoi’i family. Not to say a lot of them aren’t without talent because there has been some hall of famers for sure, but they all get hired on a never ending loop based on who preceeded them and who their dads/cousins/uncles are. In any other job if every wave of new hires had a family member of one of the higher ups in it then you’d start asking questions. For every Roman Reigns you get an Ava, or a Sim Snuka, or a Tamina. Paid Members Carbomb Posted January 8, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 8, 2025 I guess it depends on the metric you're measuring "biggest" by. Highest profile wrestler, who had the talent to build on the advantage afforded them by their family? Tough choice between The Rock, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, Roman Reigns, and Charlotte Flair (based on what I've read on here). Highest profile wrestler, who wouldn't be in wrestling if it weren't for their family connection? Probably Erik Watts, maybe Nia Jax (I'm told), or Curtis Axel. Quote

Paid Members Hannibal Scorch Posted January 8, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 8, 2025 The best thing about David Flair. Wonderful! Ava is awful. Failed as a wrestler, terrible acting and delivery as GM, and her Dad was the most charismatic talker of his time. Tonga Loa is out of his depth. I’d fancy my chances against him in a bar fight with his coordination. Not like his old man! But I’m going to with Greg Gagne. Had Vern not tried to put his son in the main spots, we may not have seen Hogan, Ventura, Oakland and Heenan leave and who knows what would have happened. Quote

My understanding is David didn't like wrestling all that much, and didn't want to wrestle but he was offered so much he couldn't turn it down. Always felt Natalya was absolute dog shit and still is. All she does is do a shit sharpshooter and wear that shit hat her dad did. Quote
TibBo Posted January 8, 2025 Posted January 8, 2025 At a high level it has got to be Nia Jax? Been signed to WWE for 10 years now, no great ability, injured multiple main eventers, and given the world title twice. Quote
