RedTwoster Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 We’re now in John Cena’s final year as an active performer - something that’s strange for me. I started watching wrestling in 2002, meaning for the bulk of my fandom, he was effectively ‘the main character’ - the Austin or Hogan, I suppose. It’s strange to think that within the next year, we’ll see his final match. Anyway…with that in mind, who would you like to see him face in this final run? And who exactly should he wrestle in his final match? And with his career coming to an end, how do you feel about him now? How will you look back at his career, once it’s all said and done? Quote
The King of Old School Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 I'm wondering if they add a special show in the December schedule for his last match or something. Would be strange seeing him go out on a wimper on the 29th December Raw or something. Quote

wordsfromlee Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 Surely the best way to do it is start it on the Raw after Wrestlemania and have it go all the way through to the final match at the next years Wrestlemania. Quote

I find it strange that he’s not wrapping up at a Wrestlemania, but I suppose it gives them scope to hold a special stadium show in his home city and brand it around the fact it’s his last match. And charge through the nose with their ticket prices for it. Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted January 6, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 6, 2025 Yeah, he's the one guy they can really get away with doing that for - why waste it at Wrestlemania, a show that will sell insane numbers of tickets regardless, when you can run another show on a near-guaranteed sell-out premise later in the year? And it means they get to run "John Cena's Final Wrestlemania" and "John Cena's Final Match" as separate events. Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted January 6, 2025 Paid Members Posted January 6, 2025 John Cena retirement night in the Boston Garden in December as a special PLE. Make a really big deal of his last match. Have him main event against someone who can make him look amazing on the way out. Quote

d-d-d-dAz Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 (edited) They should probably face each other again, just so we can all marvel at how extraordinary it is that they - and the WWE - put so much into getting them over as the Rock/Austin of their day, yet they're probably not in each other's Top 5 opponents list. Zero chemistry together, in any way. They were massive stars, with the weight of the WWE machine behind them, and it just didn't click. Edited January 6, 2025 by d-d-d-dAz Quote

Chili Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 It'll be The Rock so he can get World Title #17 by winning that funny vanity belt. Quote
