Hendry retiring Cena would be horrendous. His theme got him over but he's absolutely shite. The fantasy booking of Cena vs Dom for the ic belt works. With Cena either retiring as champion or losing to Gunther. Which wouldn't really benefit Gunther but it's a damn sight better than losing to Joe Hendry.

It does feel like Cena is getting a proper damp squib of a retirement like.

His last match on SNME, that will be littered with adverts. I mean its a "2 hour show" that I reality is about 1hr20. Feels so anticlimactic. There's no storyline, its all just really random, whatever match ends up being his "final" match, will have a few weeks build at best.

It's such a shame, love him or loathe him, Cena is probably the biggest star in the whole of wrestling in the last 20 years, he carried WWE/wrestling through some proper hard times, his final match should mean so much.

Not to buy into the Triple H conspiracies, but it really does feel like he's deliberately sabotaging his last run so as not to overshadow him.

Who knows, but Cena should be getting a much bigger fanfare

I saw a video of Reigns from after Raw went off the air on  Monday, saying he was the "Greatest of All Time", and it did set the wheels turning a bit as to whether they run that back with Cena one last time for his retirement. It's not something you'd need tonnes of build for, and it would be as high profile a send off as Cena can get if he is, as presumed, losing that last match. 

It's not my personal choice, but I think they could do far worse and it's better than Reigns continuing to piss about with Seth's goons.

They'll throw all the bells and whistles at the final match and that's the only thing they'll show in the highlight packages going forwards and WWE history will be re-written that the whole thing was a complete success rather than a monumental failure.

A part of me thinks they are now booking his retirement tour to fit in with a narrative they want to run through the next series of Unreal, which is worrying.

Going forwards are we going to have stupid booking, so they can they show it on Unreal and say "but look how we pivoted". Case in point, just wait till they show us how much they "listened to the fans" and booked AJ Styles v Cena...which def wasn't the plan all along.

I dunno. Cena doesn't seem the Terry Funk type. Plus, with all the film and TV work he's doing, he's got no real incentive to go back.

Obviously, I know nothing more than anyone else, but based purely on how he comes across, I think he's more likely to do a Batista than a Rock.

He's a wrestler and he's not permanently disabled or incapable of wrestling so he'll absolutely come back when the blood money is right at some point.

Batista has never come back. Hollywood pays very well. I think he'll stick to his retirement

Probably, but he's also openly said he's not physically up to the rigors of it anymore so I could see it taking a lot to make him come back in a significant way. That's presuming he actually does retire in December and it's not a ruse to get him to come back at Mania. 

It did occur to me if someone jumped him during his entrance, smashed him up and he did a stretcher job for a heel without actually having the retirement match at all, the heat would be tremendous and they'd have a get out to have him work through to Mania. Not that they will, but still.

I think he genuinely plans to retire in December, but I'd be amazed if the Saudis aren't already flashing the cash to get him back for their Wrestlemania.
