Things that aren't free that should be

What are some things that we pay for that should be free?

Easy ones for me should be housing and water, but what I really begrudge paying for are household items.

Bog roll, sponges, soap, bloody washing up liquid, bin bags should be all gratis in my opinion, and I hate using my own money to buy them.

Glasses and contact lenses another one I could happily see be free for all. It shouldn't be a privilege to see clearly.

Have as many as you want, not revisiting the "5 policies" fiasco.

Anything that is required to live. Housing, water, electric, gas, etc. 
I’d also include public transport on there.

I’m sure there’s maths involved that say it’s not possible but for the sake of this thread I’d argue that paying a lot more in taxes to fund it would be more favourable if we weren’t also forking out for rent and bills for them.

I dunno, I think for some individuals it should be a grand a month if it means them not being able to use it

On a sidenote I was trying to explain that when I was my eldests age I could only use the internet between 6pm and 8am and weekends. She thought I was lying.

Public toilets. Watched a woman in her eighties on a walking frame yesterday frantically try and find somebody to let her in to a toilet that was 30p to access. She had no change and it only had a coin slot, no card option like some of the fuckers in bus and train stations have.

On some of them you can press the button as you're leaving and just let folk on the other side of the gate through, which I'll always do if I'm ever forced to use one. The one yesterday was a real cunt of a turnstile system so when exiting it was deliberately set up to stop anybody coming in the other way and not paying. Absolute bastards.

Absolute disgrace that no matter how old you are if you get caught short in some places it's pay up or piss yourself.

Great shout. Lots of elderly people plan their day around public conveniences and where they can go, and town planners should do much better when it comes to this sort of thing (I can't remember the name now but there is a way they check a town's "health" or "accessibility" and give it a mark, and if it falls below a level, residents can call upon the council to improve it)

As someone who needs to piss regularly, and has bad anxiety around it, I need to plan for it as well, especially with things like football and gigs. Drives the kids mad.

Was delighted to see the ones at Waterloo are free recently as that was always a jump the turnstile job.

Especially when you consider we have to pay a standing charge on Electric and Gas meters and a portion of these rates pay for the fact that the meters sit in your property
