Those first three matches...they're on the pre show right? Wouldn't look out of place as dark dark matches where no one sees it ever.

AEW generally deliver on PPV but this is a really poor card. Obviously the main hook is Bryan, but fucking hell, if he wrestles his retirement match on a C level show like this it'll be a fucking travesty.

I normally watch the PPVs but I'm not sure even I hate myself enough to watch Bryan Danielson's career ended by Jon sodding Moxley. Might Bleacher Report this one to lessen the depression.

From what i've seen said Bleacher Report doesn't carry PPVs going forward. Until the Max deal kicks in in the new year it would be Fite/Triller or somewhere else.

I thought everything either delivered or over delivered. 

The sequencing of the show suffered from the old AEW mid show lull and a couple of matches were undeservedly quiet but it's six in the morning and I'm not going to posit any alternatives.

I'm not going to discuss any results right now, but I'm sure everything will be reasonable and even handed......

Let's get the obvious things out the way first:

1. Yes, it mostly overdelivered. AEW rarely do bad PPVs when you watch them.

2. Hell no I didn't fucking like that ending. Didn't like it before. Don't like it now.

The frustrating thing about AEW PPVs is that they're absolutely capable of doing good builds. But sometimes they just don't. This wasn't a good build. I don't want to go into a PPV feeling meh like I'm watching it out of habit. I had that with WWE for enough years.

So while I enjoyed most of this it just hits differently when you've got the anticipation which I barely had for this.

I skimmed through the show and I've got to say, I don't think AEW has ever been less appealing to me. Hangman off the back of his big heel turn and win against Swerve just trading a nothing win with (last time I was watching also heel) Jay White, that absolute dud ending just being a repeat of Dynamite of a few weeks ago, Adam Cole returning and somehow getting stuck in his child size jacket. Chris Jericho going 15 minutes in the semi-main! The horror!

The best part of the show for me was Rico returning and Billy Gunn forgoing his usual catchphrase to scream SUCK MY DICK and hit him with the fameasser.

I haven't watched just because of timing, but I'm intrigued at the concept of Wheeler turning reluctantly, and what that could lead to in the new Nuremberg Combat Club. 

I was never as down on the card as others, and this felt like a series of "predictable" results but with some slightly wacky finishes. Hopefully not a sign of things to come. 

I am, however, thrilled to see the return of Adam Cole so he can get revenge on MJF for when Max tormented him for months in a devil mask and uniting all of his enemies together to screw him. Great, simple story.

Can’t believe anyone would be surprised by Twitchy McGoo Bryan Danielson wanting to go out on such a ridiculous, violent, gross ending.

Farewell, Bubba Poon. Do yourself a favour and sort that neck out eh?

I didn’t watch the show because…I mean, look at the card - but I don’t mind the ending, for the most part. The babyfaces looking on defeated as Moxley’s crew succeeds at what they set out to do isn’t in itself a bad ending - I kinda like it, actually. But as with apparently every AEW PPV recently, they go to excesses and I question the wisdom of that, as it seems to be a contributing factor in what’s putting some people off AEW. It’s a shame too as a lot of the actual stories right now are as good as they were during the company’s early years - heel Moxley, Hangman’s descent into madness, Toni Storm’s story arc, Swerve’s journey from heel to babyface, anything to do with Christian Cage…there’s so much good that is being negated to some by off-putting angles and extreme violence. 

Danielson was wrestling what was hyped as potentially being his last match as a full-timer, yet an arena that could hold more than 20,000 sold just 8,000 tickets. It’s a bit of a shame, really. Good storytelling isn’t being rewarded by attendance or the product feeling hot, and it’s probably - in part, at least - their own fault.

As an audience of one I'm on the other side - I loved it and this show has continued to heat up AEW for me to the point I'm considering tuning in for the weekly TV again instead of just dipping in and out.

Takeshita's holding a title as he always should have been. Hangman's suffering continues as he just can't put it all together when he doesn't have Swerve pushing him AND that's being used to heat Jay White up so maybe he can start doing something more meaningful. Moxley for all his ups and downs in AEW always delivers when he's carrying the belt, and I've Yuta's slow transition from BCC punching bag to a vicious little bastard so I want to see more from him.

I think about Danielson the way I think a lot of this forum considers Bret Hart, who I just missed out on as a kid. He's the absolute best in the world at this, and seeing him go out this way is exactly what you know he wanted. Get the feeling this is the kind of thing you'd have to agree to just to convince him to win the belt in the first place and with this being the end of his full-time in-ring career I'm glad to know it's happening on his terms in the way he'd want it to. He's not done yet, and there's plenty of time for him to have his Sting-style flowers as a part-timer in the future.

I love that man and I'm so grateful AEW existed as a place where he got to do all this, and go out setting up what you have to hope is Darby's ascension to champion.
