It's highly unlikely Danielson is personally approached. AEW will have a media/press team who will arrange all these things for their stars and they just do the rounds. My guess is Danielson probably hasn't heard of any of them!

There's close to zero chance of him being personally approached, given how prevalent he is in the media, he likely had a day where he did a bunch of these, meaning that researching each outlet to decide if it fit his morals would have been a bit of a challenge - and a nightmare for the press team, if he decided to be selective. But even if he did that, your research on each media outlet would have to be pretty comprehensive to understand its ethics or how it's perceived - even The Sun's wikipedia page doesn't make that obvious, and if you visit the website it's not immediately obvious either.

Scrambling to Infantalize wrestlers to the point that they have zero agency is depressing, but it's sadly common all across the internet. Especially when my initial comment was half in jest just riffing on earlier "i hope x is injured" comments.

But anyway, replace the cunt with a real star.

In relation to Danielson doing a fluff piece for The Sun while on a busy media tour promoting an upcoming event...this is complete bollocks.

How exactly is saying you hope someone gets injured and in front of their children no less "riffing" or "in jest"? It's just an awful, shitty and incredibly unfunny thing to say.

Moving on from this: I think the match I'm most excited for is the Casino Gauntlet. Though I'm a bit worried they'll give surprise slots to BritWres guys I don't care about. I really don't want to see Michael Oku, Grado or whoever in this, for example. I'm going for an AEW show. I want Daddy Magic, The Butcher, Rush and Beast Mortos!

It wasn't a great joke, but @Merzbow is a brilliant poster and a a great person in general; if he had a track record of saying crass, nasty stuff that would be one thing, but I don't think it's worth dwelling on an attempt at humour that didn't land. I think it's clear that he didn't really mean it.

Grado's tweeted that he's covering the show for Cultaholic, so I'm wondering if that rules him out of making an appearance. That said, I'd love to see him take part in this! But honestly, I feel weirdy invested in seeing Keith Lee make an appearance entirely because I love his theme song and feel like I don't hear it enough. It's bloody brilliant.

Wow, yeah went to queue up some podcasts for the train today and saw that mad cross over pop up. Bold predictions: Something from Nandos for the main and I reckon he’s a poppadom guy.

He was a delightful guest, I was wrong on Nandos but correct on poppadoms. Smooth mango chutney eater though, so, in good conscience, I can only give the episode four stars.

100% agreed with @LaGooshon the Casino Gauntlet, I want the AEW guys I wouldn’t get to see otherwise in there. Though Hechicero is already in town for Revpro, so that would be just lovely too. Also Takeshita to return and win the dang thing.

Yeah, I like that there’s a big selection of lads who could potentially return from injury or contract disputes to appear in the Gauntlet. Most exciting match on the card. No idea who is or isn’t ready, but it’d be a blast to see any of them.

Moxley, Garcia, Lucha Bros, Ricky Starks, Bandido, Adam Cole, Jay White, Danhausen, Powerhouse Hobbs, Miro, Copeland, Keith Lee.

Most importantly though, I hope the UK fans don’t let me down. Give this knobhead the biggest Maxican Wave possible.

He was a delightful guest, and I say that as not his biggest fan. Smooth mango chutney is an abomination though.

Acaster having seen a British wrestling show in a community centre in Barton Seagrave is the nearly the most britwres thing imaginable, and made even funnier by a wrestler called The Spin Doctor who was dressed as a Doctor and spun around a lot. Its near Kettering so I'm guessing it might have been EAW that was run by Nick something that used to post here. He was a shitarse wrestler, one of the pleather brigade.  Sounds very Britwres though.

The Spindoctor would have been Andrew Platt...brother of Simon (Falcon) and Stuart (The Judge), he came out to Dizzy by Vic Reeves and did indeed love a good spin. You're right though, it probably would have been EAW, TAP or BRAWL...which doesn't rule out myself and Andrew "Ref" Coyne being on the card...awful shows but great memories...Nick who's last name escapes me was a terrible booker though, one of the "it's my show, therefore I shall main event it" brigade, I seem to recall he had a "Men in Black" gimmick.

The fact that James Acaster once came to watch me perform would be a great two truths one lie question.

Back on topic, I'm going to All In this year...wooohoo

Interesting that you mention TAP. Former promoter and I use that word in the loosest sense of the word right here! Indeed great memories!

I have some great memories from TAP not least...being able to cut my first promo and not realising it was a wired mic so I couldn't move more than a foot from the turnbuckle, me vs Spud (of Drake Maverick fame) for the TAP UK championships...which I won I should mention! Super Dragon wrestling in front of a rabid crowd of 6 in a working men's club...and Steve Blamey's pink coat (if you know, you know)

Great memories! The fact this was all 20 years ago terrifies me!

I remembered he was in the Shitarse 50, which I'm delighted to find that the live journal is still up. Screenshot_20240821_184539_Chrome.thumb.jpg.1424c8f1ded95d1f3cf8c98b9587cfbf.jpg
