I’m partway through a marathon of watching Raw from the beginning and the plan was to check out Nitro and watch the two shows in order, either until the shows became shit or I got bored. Whichever came first. For all its faults in recent years, the Network has generally been a godsend for me. I’ll be sad to see it go. I’ve been doing this for a good few years now and only made it upto March 1999. I did try and put Thunder into the rotation too but gave up quite quickly with that. Nitro has become a right slog to get through, but the WWF moves at such a pace that it’s so much easier to enjoy. I imagine a lot of people are going to be looking to get back onto XWT in the new year. Failing that there are sellers on Etsy that sell full sets on BluRay Edited November 23, 2024 by WyattSheepMask Quote

I’ve never seen an episode of Nitro, only the most well known clips. I was always a WWF guy. I’ve watched all the NWA/WCW PPVs and Clash Of The Champions up to about 1994 now. Unless it all goes to Netflix, my Nitro journey will possibly end before it begins. Might be a blessing in disguise. Quote
WyattSheepMask Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 (edited) Ah now, Nitro early on was a good show. For its first 9 months it’s only between 45 & 60 minutes long, which is the one & only correct amount of time for TV, and I’d say watch those first few months if you can regardless. There some silliness still going on (the show started when Hogan was still in the Red & Yellow and fighting the Dungeon of Doom) but there’s some great random matches on there and some great other in ring action to enjoy. Its goes to 90mins in mid 96 and then to 135mins+ in early 98, which is where it starts to become tedious because every week its the exact same thing, nWo run in to cause a DQ in the main event and they get the better of the faces. Thats a common thing that gets thrown around as a criticism of WCW that it’s almost a cliche, but it really is what happens virtually every episode. That’s not to say that the WWF didn’t have a formula that they stuck to as well, but there comes a point were RAW feels like a breeze while Nitro feels like a slog Edited November 23, 2024 by WyattSheepMask Quote
Paid Members Your Fight Site Posted November 24, 2024 Paid Members Posted November 24, 2024 I don’t know about other platforms, but the UI for WWE Network has been updated in the last few days for me on PS5. Seems an utterly pointless exercise if the Network’s going to be going away in just over a month. Quote

That hadn't updated in ages last time I went on there. Quote

Captain SlackBladder Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 Probably just putting the kill code in. Although it's strange to update the layout just for this reason. I wonder if there is a chance something will be left on for legacy. Quote

If I was doing a "Carbomb Compilation", that would be one of them easily. One of the strongest cases I've ever seen for the argument that a simple tag match is the best form wrestling can take. They had a couple of special stip matches that got great plaudits, and they are great, but that Summerslam match is just spot on, for me. Obviously, I wouldn't get to see it, but I would be intrigued by a Cody/Orton Legacy reunification for a mini tag run at some point. Quote
