If he never fought in the UFC, it wasn’t like that money he made was gonna be dispersed to other fighters on the roster. It would’ve more likely been spunked up some casino wall in Vegas by Dana and pals on one of his jollies. And there was never an option for him to enter at a different level. Nor should there have been. Whether he’d ‘paid his dues’ in MMA or not, he was bringing in more interest and eyes for his fights than a massive chunk of the roster. They were never gonna make him work his way up through the untelevised prelims, nor was Punk gonna fight for the shitty numbers UFC prelim jabronis get paid. So it was always gonna be a case where they’d have to pay him handsomely, and in turn they’d put his fight on PPV to try and get back some of that money through the revenue from buys. I don’t even particularly like Punk. Great wrestler and I can see the appeal but I don’t find him likeable. That said though, I never got the bellyaching from MMA fans about him being positioned and paid the way he was on UFC cards. What were they gonna do, put him in their version of dark matches? I can see why some fighters might’ve been a bit pissed off if they’d taken the long road and made a fraction of the money Punk did but it’s just the way it is. And that’s still not a case of Punk taking money off their table. Dana wasn’t gonna give them more if he didn’t sign Punk. An attraction always gets paid more in prize fighting. It’s why Brock Lesnar made way more money in the UFC after his first WWE run than he ever would’ve if he’d just gone straight from the NCAA singlet to MMA without all that fake rasslin exposure. Great post. You can't blame MMA for wanting to capitalise on the mid life idiocy of some professional wrestlers. It's a shame actually that Undertaker didn't take a fight, as he might be different now had he got punched to the moon by Heath Herring. And I absolutely don't blame Punk for taking it on. Just question the admirability for stepping in the Octagon, all factors considered. All I mean with regard Punk being on a UFC card, is there's only so many fights that will go on a card, if he's on one, that's a spot that someone else doesn't take. Realise his pay situation is going to differ for the reasons you outline, but it's an opportunity to feature lost for another.
Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted October 20 Paid Members Share Posted October 20 All this talk of legit fighters/whose actually hard etc reminded me of some bullshit story my brother made up when I was a kid when he said everyone in the WWF in 2001 had a behind-closed-doors fighting tournament, like an untelevised Brawl for All, and Raven won it so my brother would constantly go on about how Raven was the hardest guy in WWF everytime he was on the telly. Fucking Raven! The worst part was I believed him aswell.
davertfnewman
There's only one answer to this - your brother is Raven.

Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted October 23 Paid Members Share Posted October 23 The Sandman’s return to ECW 25 years ago today. Great moment. Although Dreamer flopping about on the ropes for ages while Sandman’s in the ring pisses me off more than it probably should. What was he doing?

RIDDUM_N_STYLE
One of the best promos Foley’s cut that, didn’t realise just how outlandish Trump had gotten, I mean how does that even justify? Jailing someone for being against him?
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted October 23 Paid Members Share Posted October 23 I personally think Trump is a good person and I feel sorry for him in every instance he's been a cunt. Sorry, not Trump. Vince. Vince is who I feel sorry for.
