A pilot that's bought joy to many many many people is probably more known than a random anime cartoonist that the vast majority won't have heard of.

The pilot hasn’t been named. With all due respect they could have been an absolute nightmare.

You are no longer a Sir after you’ve died, I think.

It is still common practice to call someone Sir after death even though the honour no longer specifically applies. Knighthoods are like libel, you can't do them to the dead.

Probably more appropriate for the old poster thread but what ever happened to Pat? Seemed to be in every thread at one point and the just vanished.

NBA Hall Of Famer, Bill Walton has died. He would probably be better known for getting name checked in Airplane! when Kareem Abdul - Jabbar says “Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the courts for 48 minutes”

A true Clipper legend, and by that I mean he joined with plenty of promise and was injured whenever it mattered.

He had Janetty ankles before Janetty had Janetty ankles.

Always difficult, these ones. It’s absolutely tragic what happened to him and his decline in public was difficult to see, and he is at peace now. But still, very sad indeed. He will be remembered for his career and his charity work, and his bravery.

Edit - Just stuck the baseball on and realised it’s Lou Gehrig Day. ALS is commonly known as Lou Gehrig Disease in the US as he was the first high profile personality to have it.

Very sad news. He was a phenomenal player, as were a number of others that were in the Rhinos team at the time. He’s have definitely gone into coaching after his playing career had ended had it not been for his condition, he had such a great mind for the game. A very sad day for not just for Rugby League, but Sport in general
