Paid Members Lorne Malvo Posted yesterday at 02:07 PM Paid Members Posted yesterday at 02:07 PM Talking about kitchen sinks, the young lad at work doesn't know how to use a dish rack. I asked him to do the washing up yesterday. Half hour later I walked into the kitchen to find four plates stacked on top of the rack, one on top of the other, rather than slitting into the gaps. I kept calm and showed him the correct way to do it, but inside I was screaming Jesus Fucking Christ. Quote

Talking about dishes, my wife does something similar when she does the dishes, in that she’ll put the plates, bowls, pans etc on the draining board, but all the right-way-up so they don’t drain at all. I don’t understand it. We got a dish rack and I hoped that might help but she just moves it out of the way. You go back in the kitchen and have to tip the little pools of water out of them before you can dry them. It is just one of her little quirks and of course is fine really, but I can’t say I can get my head round it! Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted yesterday at 03:54 PM Paid Members Posted yesterday at 03:54 PM (edited) A filling came out a few weeks ago, had to go to the dentist which due to binning off their NHS services has quoted me £600 for 3 fillings and an extraction. I’m doing it on finance because funnily enough I don’t have £600 laying around, so it means I can’t even attempt to book the treatment for 2 weeks until the finance cooling off period ends. Edit: I received a phonecall from them and thankfully because I joined their monthly plan for £18 a month it knocks 20% off my bill and they also deduct the £95 consultation fee I already paid just to be seen. A much more agreeable £350ish left to pay thankfully but that’s after a up-front payment and joining a subscription. Still an absolute con compared to being on the NHS though. I really have no room to talk because I'm reminded frequently how useless I am at household chores, but my other half must have the worst dishwasher loading technique on the planet. Plates flat against each other, mugs on their side, upright bowls, knives with protective covers on... an absolute disaster every time. And forget worrying about whether the spray arm can actually rotate or not - stuff just gets piled in with complete disregard. Gear grinding. Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted 20 hours ago Paid Members Posted 20 hours ago (edited) We moved in February to a house without a dishwasher and since then I’ve had no less than four or five small arguments with my wife, who is insistent on leaving dishes to soak. Not like a pot or pan, but combining greasy pans with cups and glasses that just needed a quick rinse and are now also greasy. Also the odd sharp knife left in the water amongst the blunt cutlery. I believe it to be weaponised incompetence because I finally caved and got a dishwasher. Edited 20 hours ago by FLips Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted 19 hours ago Members Posted 19 hours ago I often see yanks rage baiting the British saying "wait, they don't rinse their dishes over there???" and always think what nonsense, of course we all do. Now I'm not so convinced. Don't prove the yanks right. Quote

I've watched my mum open the dishwasher as little as possible and then blindly throw cutlery into it, and on one occasion she put a frying pan with a whole fried egg in there because "these new machines can handle anything." I remember about eleven or twelve years ago, I was living in London and my tooth sort of broke when I bit into a sandwich. Went to the dentist the next day and they said I could either get it fixed privately for hundreds of pounds or they'd take it out there and then for (I think) about twenty quid on the NHS. A very easy decision to make. I miss my tooth a lot less than I'd have missed those hundreds of pounds, especially back then. P.S. glad they knocked the pice down but, yeah, it's still an absolute disgrace tbh. Quote

Years ago, one of my best mates started seeing my ex - no hard feelings, it was Jersey, it's a small social circle, you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who hadn't dated around their social circle, particularly once you got into the music scene and "alternative" types. It's a wonder if it ever happened, though, because the first night he went back to hers he passed out drunk, then got up in the middle of the night, opened her wardrobe and started pissing in it. She woke up, caught him in the act and asked him what he was doing, and apparently he mumbled, "it's alright, Pat said it's okay" as he stopped and stumbled back to bed. Quote

I went to a private dentist a few months back as I hadnt been in ages and no NHS dentists at all taking patients around my way and since then its been phone calls/emails/texts/whatsapp for coming for a check up/get some work done. So many places now have got so pushy in trying to get you to book stuff in immediately when it makes me want to use their services even less Quote

Happy birthday! My eldest has got a part time job alongside her college courses, and has now booked driving lessons! This passing of time has to stop!!! Please, I can't handle it. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted 19 minutes ago Paid Members Posted 19 minutes ago Only feels like a few years ago we were bringing her home. I rarely feel the ‘shit, I’m old’ thing but something about this milestone has proper done me mentally 🤣 Quote
