TheScarlettChad
I started buying "The Mags" in 2001, so i didn't look like i'd be going home to read it with my pickle in my hand. Though I mostly read Power Slam anyway,

Sunny was unhappy about this, I'm not sure whether it was on the principle of sharing the cover or because she didn't like the picture they chose for her, it could be both. I don't know how Vince suing her fits in to the equation, but she threatened to sue him over it. It was a weird magazine, even back then it didn't really serve much of a purpose other than for something Wrestling related to read. I always preferred WCW magazine to either of WWFs efforts whenever I could track down a copy. Kind of. He suggested that Sunny and Sable did their separate shoots for the "duelling covers" issues of Raw and in his opinion Sable "blew Sunny away" in terms of what each delivered in terms of hotness and everyone knew it. (I can't believe this was in one of the kayfabe mags to be honest) He goes on to say that among the multitude of calls he had to take from Sunny, exposing her as jealous and insecure (again, all of this is supposed to be kayfabe) - they had settled on the two cover photos and that Sunny erupted about the photo they'd chosen for her cover and that it "wasn't her" - he writes a rhetorical answer that "who the hell was it then?" The article includes a mocked up cover with what's implied as the rejected photo. She's wearing a black bikini tope (I think the one with the gold stars, if you're familiar with her shoots of the era and shots that did make the light of day over the years) and the shot is one that will be pretty familiar to people who've seen enough beach shoots with women in their swimsuits ; she's laying down front ways on the sand facing the camera just as a wave is crashing into her from behind. In the mock up published, Sunny's face is pixelated - I always inferred from this that she was doing the old "fake ecstasy" face, and that the reason she kicked off was that it was too overtly sexual. Which ties in to words out of her own mouth over the years that she wanted to be desired but more in a cheescake, teasing "girl next door" manner rather than how they portrayed Sable which was more "keen to get her kit off" and as close to the mark for full nudity as they could get away with. Russo also suggested that because the photos that came back weren't what they hoped for, they published from Sable's new photos but for Sunny took their pick from some of the archives, as though she hadn't delivered on the brief or did what she needed to do to be ready for the shoot. In other words - Sable's a model pro, Sunny's a childish, selfish little cunt. Again.... crazy that this was in the kayfabe magazines. It read as if he just felt like burying Tammy that particular month. Personally, I was delighted when the mail order guys sent me the Sunny cover they DID choose. Some time in 1996 he got confused that when the three major female characters they had - who happened to all be very attractive - got over, he assumed that they'd gotten over because they were very attractive. And thus began a chain of events that snowballed into anyone decent to look at getting on telly whether they really had anything to contribute in the ring or as a character or not. Paid Members Statto Posted May 20 Paid Members Share Posted May 20 I had no idea there was an actual (real?) back story to the Venom/Sunny "headline". I've seen that magazine cover countless times (invariably as an example of "this wasn't fun to take to the counter at the newsagents LOL") and had always assumed it was nothing more than something of an in-joke inserted by the editor of the magazine who was working his own little gimmick - basically suggesting "this world-class babe just won't leave me alone, I might have to get a restraining order!" "If you worked the wrestling side of the WWF at the time, it was no secret to anyone that Sable and Sunny HATED each other. Now, I've got to be fair here, I think it was more on Sunny's part than Sable. There is no doubt that Sunny was just flat out jealous of Sable, and quite frankly—I could never understand why? To me, they were two completely different types of women with their own appeal. Sunny was the girl next door, and Sable was the mysterious, exotic beauty. They both had their followers. So, when I made the call to do a swimsuit edition of the RAW Magazine, and give both Sunny and Sable their separate covers—I should have known that I was in for it. I chose a picture of Sunny that was extremely sexy—I thought it put her in a spectacular light. Well—she didn't agree. And, I found that out first hand when she came onto our floor to look at the pictures we chose. After viewing them, she grabbed them and ran to my office and screamed, "That's not me! That's not me!" I remember being caught so off guard at the time, that all I could do was laugh and say, "Well—if it's not you—WHO IS IT THEN?!" Chili
Sable being a mysterious exotic beauty is a brilliant reference given that her look was essentially a Hot Body Magazine contestant with the personality to match transplanted to WWF TV. Still don't understand why Sunny had fuck all to do in 1997. Was she having issues by then?
The Gaffer
Not as bad as the magazine covers, but Fully Loaded 98 was my personal low point of asking my mum to go up to the counter with something: Just brutal.
