RIP Brodie Lee

For those of you who didn't follow his AEW run, this is his final promo that he did unscripted and completely ad-libbed which I think shows how massively talented he was and how much potential he had as a main event wrestler which was never fulfilled:

Gutted and so sad to find out he passed this morning. Like others, I saw some of the posts on Instagram and then got that horrible, sinking feeling in my stomach.

I thought he was just suffering from a particularly nasty injury and would be back to whip the Dark Order into shape soon enough.

Honestly so sad, 41 is no age and he was just hitting his stride in AEW, seems like he was a fantastic guy and family man.

RIP Jon Huber/Brodie Lee

Really horrible news to learn of.

Can only echo the comments of others, he seemed like a decent man, a family man and had the "look" - The same look that most people think of when they think of a big wrestling star.

Thoughts are with his family. RIP.

Sucks when these things happen at this time of year. Christmas will never be the same again for his poor family.

BBC has an article up listing him as a former wrestler. It’s like those stories of when people would ask TNA wrestlers why they don’t wrestle anymore. I never believed those stories but I guess the bubble is real.

Woke up at 4am, opened Twitter and saw the hashtag trending, my heart sank reading it. I never saw any of his indy work but when he debuted in NXT, I was hooked - his discus clothesline will never be topped. An absolutely huge loss to the business. He was a tremendous wrestler, but more importantly he seemed like a great humble person, a devoted father and husband. 41 just so incredibly young. His poor family.

The tributes from his friends and fellow wrestlers got me teary-eyed more than once. Reading Bray Wyatt's post is just utterly heart-breaking.

To be fair, it mentions AEW and says that he stopped competing in October, maybe not the right wording, but technically true.

I'm happy I'll never know how he threw that big boot without tearing every ligament in his knee. Fucking beaut of a thing that was.

They’ve changed it now too. Originally it was “former wrestler” and now it’s just “wrestler”.  It also changed from “former wwe wrestler” to “AEW and former WWE wrestler”

Fair play to them for changing it after I assume they were corrected.

This, Becky and Edge’s posts wrote me off. I’m a lapsed fan but seeing the tributes to him - all of which refer to what a wonderful husband and father he was - hit me in the gut. Really, really terrible news.

Did he stop wrestling in October because of this health issue? It's unusual (unless I've missed it on the newz sites) for such information not to leak out - maybe that's another area where AEW are more professional than WWE in protecting their staff?

Meltzer knew. He said don't ask about Brodie, something along those lines. He knew.
