I think the understanding is that contacting customer service privately is often frustrating and pointless, whereas publicly shaming a company/brand on social media might be considered bad optics for them and so they might actually deign to do something in a timely manner. Although if everyone now does this for every little thing, it’s probably at the point of being meaningless as well. Quote

Dai Posted Tuesday at 02:06 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:06 PM Google maps, when you minimise to go onto another app and it becomes small, has now put the 'enlarge' icon right next to the close icon, which is just ridiculously stupid as they are so tiny when you are trying to press it. A cm the wring way and you've closed down the app. You used to be able to click on the small app and click the middle bit to enlarge, which worked perfect. No idea why they got rid of that. One more minor annoyance. When you buy a pack of chicken breasts or thighs and they have a couple of tiny ones and then the rest are all 4 times bigger. With the thighs especially, this is annoying. I always refer to a double-pack of chicken breasts from Co-Op as a Bert and Ernie, as one is always smaller and fatter and the other thinner and leaner. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted Tuesday at 02:25 PM Members Posted Tuesday at 02:25 PM Spotify have decided that what we all really want is our playlists to be mixed, so we miss the end of the song we're listening to and the next one fading in. And I can't work out how to change it. Fuck off! Quote
Paid Members DCW Posted Tuesday at 02:28 PM Paid Members Posted Tuesday at 02:28 PM I went back to work 8 weeks ago after being off for a few months after a breakdown. I see a psychologist in the community clinic once a week and if appointment is for 3pm, she's there at 3pm. I also have to go to this clinic for outpatient medication prescription every 12 weeks. This morning my appointment was for 9:30am and I wasn't seen until 11:30am. I have never once been seen on time in 6 months using service. My work have been very accommodating and my manager is prepared to just keep me on the clock for the weekly appointments, but 2 hours waiting around to see the psych today is taking the piss with their generosity. Issue I reckon is I don't think the clinic is used to people using their services having a job. Cos I live in and they cover a rough enough/high poverty catchment area and some of the folks I sit with in the waiting room are obviously seriously sedated on medication for conditions more serious than mine and I can't imagine they would be too capable of holding a job in that condition. I don't want to sound like a prick complaining about this to the clinic, but I know if it's a regular thing it's going to lead to hassle from work. Quote
Paid Members gmoney Posted Tuesday at 02:30 PM Paid Members Posted Tuesday at 02:30 PM (edited) On a Spotify note, I love the smart shuffle mode that means that instead of just listening to the playlist you've put together on shuffle, it "smartly" will add in all the obvious songs you've deliberately avoided. Thankfully if you turn it off, it will helpfully just put it back on a few days later. Edited Tuesday at 02:32 PM by gmoney Quote

Yeah I get that when it's a celebrity trying to use their "pull" to get something sorted out. Just seems as though everyone has started doing it as if it'll actually make a difference. Although I saw an amusing exchange at the weekend where someone was complaining to ScotRail about cancellations and their social media team pointed out that it's a different company that operates the route they were complaining about. I like it when they fight back. There have been some absolutely awful cancellations/delays over the last week for South Western and one customer started banging on at them about how the weather delays were their fault and as they had the name gaslight in their handle, SWR reply was "gaslight by name, gaslight by nature" which popped me. I like that it does it for the Soulwax remixes playlist I follow, the little AI DJ even has a name, but for my other playlists I've always just had the crossfade set to 0 seconds for everything else so there's no gap, which is handy for live albums etc. It should be in the settings somewhere. If you're on the android app press on your profile picture, then the settings and there should be a option that says "playback" where you can turn automix off. Yeah, as much as a lot of the social media stuff is petty grievances that aren't really worth the effort, it has to be considered hand-in-hand with how difficult companies make it to actually speak to them any more. I've never been one for phoning a company, but it's not just phone numbers, there are massive companies that don't give out an email address, don't have a contact form on the website any more, if you're lucky the best you can get is an AI chatbot. I had flights cancelled on Friday, and had to try and figure out how to try and get reimbursed from Easyjet, and try and get through to someone at my hotel to let them know to hold the booking but that I wouldn't be there until Sunday. The entire "customer service" section of Easyjet's website just directs you to other pages detailing what they imagine you might want to know, so if your question isn't answered on one of them, you're fucked. If tagging a company on Facebook gets you a better response than that, I can see why so many people are resorting to it. EDIT: Case in point - my Premier Inn booking is showing an outstanding balance, even though everything was paid upfront. I just had to ask the AI chatbot the same question three times, each time getting an answer of some variation of "sorry, I don't understand, try rephrasing", until they eventually put me through to an actual human being who, on reviewing the chat for several minutes, said, "I see you would like to check your outstanding balance". I eventually had to (for a second time) give them all the details of my booking, and then got a generic response of, "sorry, I'm unable to help because this is a past stay", and telling me I need to contact a completely different team - there was no prior indication that the chatbot didn't deal with "past stays", no reason why I would expect that, and given that I had already given them my booking reference and the dates of my stay, it doesn't speak well of their customer service that they couldn't figure out from the context of my complaint or from me giving the actual dates that I was talking about something in the past. The contact form for the other department does nothing when you press the "Submit" button. Edited 18 hours ago by BomberPat Quote
