You go the Socialist route and you're portrayed as the evil that almost installed Comrade Corbyn and turned us into Venezuela. Proved by Johnson continually lambasting the most centrist of centrists in Starmer for being behind Corbyn. You play the centrist route, the one that will more than likely get you in Govt, and you're turning your back on what the party stands for. What Labour need is a left leaning Blairite with a northern accent and a dose of charisma. So when are the party just going to admit it, and pull the trigger on Andy Burnham?? This kind of stuff is exactly why you need more than 2 political parties

Loki
This lady? https://www.counterfire.org/articles/video/23359-audrey-white-why-i-confronted-keir-starmer-video “ i’m hoping that within, within the next year or so that there is some party that comes out that holds, because we’ve got an election coming up and i think a lot of independents will be standing, and i hope that we can and I would, don’t just hope i work towards that happening, i worked - we work towards that happening and support independents.” … I suspect admitting to supporting non Labour candidates is what got her kicked out of the party. I’m all for a broad church but you can’t actively support independent candidates over those of your own party and remain in it. She was also a regular on Galloway’s Russia Today show, so honestly… no great loss. Edit: also, turns out she was expelled from the party in February but didn’t get the letter until this week. So she was expelled for giving an interview to a proscribed organisation 6 months ago. Damn you time-travelling Starmer!! Yeah you really can’t expect to retain your membership when you do that. Plus it’s not like it’s retroactive, Labour proscribed SA back in June or July last year. Paid Members Fatty Facesitter Posted July 31, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted July 31, 2022 (edited) Of all the times for Starmer to shoot himself in the foot repeatedly, it had to be during Bo...I mean the soon-to-be former Prime Minister's departure while the Tories are in turmoil, didn't it? They've never winning an election with him at the helm. Give it to Rayner. Edited July 31, 2022 by Fatty Facesitter Stopped myself calling him Boris. Shit, I've just said Boris. Fuck, I've just said Boris again.
Loki
I’m actually quite pissed that Starmer’s using his time machine for this nonsense, it shows a definite lack of imagination. He could at least go back and tell Blair not to invade Iraq or something!

And there's the rub, and something that shows how much politics is just a game for a certain class of people, and how disconnected it is from the lived reality of the rest of us. We were told for years that Starmer would be the ideal leader because he's more "electable" than Corbyn. Yet under Starmer, Labour performed worse outside of London than Corbyn did, and no one was shouting about how he was "unelectable" - it was "Long Corbyn", or ridiculously, "the public still being angry that the Party chose Ed Miliband rather than David". It turns out "electability" is a quality that is utterly unrelated to the actual winning of elections. It's just a euphemism for wearing the right tie, not rocking the boat, not questioning the status quo, and not saying anything that might be uncomfortable for the political class. Loki
This seems to be the update to a story coming out of the Freedom of Religion or Belief Conference - https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2022/jul/22/european-countries-pressurise-uk-over-removal-of-abortion-commitments-liz-truss TL:DR, 22 countries signed a statement which the UK then unilaterally amended to remove language on abortion rights, and a load of countries have complained.
