Paid Members BigJag Posted July 9, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 9, 2025 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/mixed-martial-arts/articles/ce377n6gkzxo Is a Staph infection something thats picked up from rolling on poorly maintained gym mats? What could Askren have done to prevent this situation? Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted July 9, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 9, 2025 Yeah, in grappling I think it generally comes from rolling on dirty mats or with someone else who already has staph. Quote

Paid Members BigJag Posted July 10, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 10, 2025 His mental strength seems to be at a high level and he has positive support. Not sure he should be trying to speak too much. The results of his recovery will be interesting to see. I've witnessed a couple of family members going through a similar situation. The recovery process is slow and difficult. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted July 16, 2025 Paid Members Posted July 16, 2025 Fucking hell, this is grim. Quote
d-d-d-dAz Posted August 11, 2025 Posted August 11, 2025 WWE have gone to ESPN, and UFC have now gone to Paramount - and in the process decided to stop UFC PPV's altogether. Quite a big moment, really. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted August 11, 2025 Posted August 11, 2025 Just US as far as I can tell? Anyone know what the situation is over here? I'd definitely dip back into it if it was all available somewhere. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted August 11, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 11, 2025 Everything is still on TNT Sports over here. Not sure when that contract expires. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted August 11, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 11, 2025 (edited) Can see this meaning the numbered events get even less stacked than they have been. What incentive will they have to load up any card now if they’re all gonna be included in a monthly subscription? Edited August 11, 2025 by wandshogun09 Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted August 11, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 11, 2025 I'd be happy with top heavy cards across the board of thats the case. Quote

I reckon they'll do something like; - Weekly Fight Night style shows - Monthly 'premium' show (I actually think they might get rid of the numbers before long, and maybe just do branded events or go to 'UFC ON PARAMOUNT 1' and start again) - Quarterly major show on CBS, which is like a terrestrial TV equivalent 7.7 billion dollars over 7 years, too. Good grief. Quote
Dai Posted August 11, 2025 Posted August 11, 2025 Nothing really to change then compared to its current model, apart from those CBS shows which I assume are as close to those Fox shows we had years back, and will be the ultimate shows for the year. The state on some PPVs even now, it would be hard to make alot of those less stacked. Quote

They can use the same structure, but coming off PPV is massive. Also, the CBS thing will be interesting as you may start to see them prioritise big names that the mainstream might know even more than they do now. CM Punk is due a return. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted August 11, 2025 Paid Members Posted August 11, 2025 “Four big events a year”. Out of 40 something events a year. Smashing. My main thing with this is that I hope we don’t somehow lose Fight Pass due to this deal like we lost the Network when WWE went to Netflix. I don’t think they will sack off Fight Pass because they use it for more than just their own current shows. But we won’t see how this affects the UK until the TNT deal runs its course. I’d hate to lose the archive on Fight Pass though. Also gonna find it interesting to see how the top UFC fighters feel about this. The ones who have “a cut of the PPV”. That’s obviously gone now. Weren't they getting a flat fee for PPVs anyway, which is why the quality of the has drastically dropped (in general) the last few years? So PPV or not, it's the same deal with the Numbered events. As for Wand, hasn't it been the case already for ages that unless youre a mega star, they haven't been dishing out the PPV cut anyway. Think I remember one of the lighter weight guys moaning that they weren't getting it. Quote
