Goodridge was on the end of some horrendous beatings/KO's, easily one of my favorite MMA/K-1 fighters ever though, the ultimate kill or be killed fighter. Goodridge was probably taken advantage of the most as an MMA to K-1 crossover guy. Goodridge was a banger but hardly skilled, yet they threw him with absolutely everyone in K-1. Sefo, Le Banner, Bernado, Aerts, Bonjasky. Just an asburd, murderers row of kickboxers. He went 12-24 as a kickboxer. Edited January 10 by Egg Shen Quote

I haven't seen the Big Nog bout in years, but he took a swift, yet brutal, pasting from Fedor. Body punches, Russian hooks, ground and pound, even soccer kicks. Although Goodridge was lucky enough to avoid Cro Cop (possibly because he left Pride at the end of 03). Edited January 9 by jimufctna24 Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted January 9 Paid Members Posted January 9 (edited) I remember when I started working my way through the early Pride shows, Goodridge was pretty much the go-to guy they’d pit against Heavyweights making their Pride debut. Pretty sure he welcomed Igor Vovchanchyn, Ricco Rodriguez and Tom Erikson to Pride, among others. He was the brick wall you had to go through. And if we’re talking ‘Big Daddy’, we can’t really not mention this either, can we?… I need a Nurofen just looking at that. Edited January 9 by wandshogun09 Quote

There might be someone who proceeded Goodridge who I am forgetting, but there is a chance that he was the original gatekeeper in MMA. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted January 10 Paid Members Posted January 10 I always feel tempted to go on an old school fight binge, but never get around to it. I am tempted to go on a Goodridge one now though. Quote

I mostly concentrated on the HW division (Fedor, Cro Cop, Big Nog, etc) and the MW division (Wanderlei, Arona, Shogun, etc). All in all, I greatly enjoyed it. I can imagine a Goodridge binge would be quite entertaining given he faced multiple cycles of heavyweight talent; Frye/Coleman/Oleg/Ruas > Igor/Ricco/Erikson > Fedor/Nog. He also faced some rather interesting debutants/rookies along the way (Ogawa, Jan Norte, Terkay). Edited January 10 by jimufctna24 Quote
Kamaras-Tash Posted January 17 Posted January 17 (edited) Apologies if already covered but what's the deal with paramount+ in the UK? I've noticed all the UFC shows are included with subscription in the US but guessing the TNT deal scuppers that for us? Also are all the past events shown on there similar to Fight Pass? If we aren't getting them was thinking of trying to use a VPN to get the Americans experience, has anyone tried yet. Edited January 17 by Kamaras-Tash Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted January 17 Paid Members Posted January 17 Yeah, it's staying with TNT over here for the time being. In the US I think the library has been shifted over to the Paramount+ app, I did see people complaining that you had to pay extra to watch some of the stuff though. I've never tried to run Paramount+ through a VPN, does it work? I know Netflix does but other apps like DAZN don't allow it. Quote
Kamaras-Tash Posted January 17 Posted January 17 I've no idea regarding the VPN thing I would assume it would as you say other apps work fine. I thought everything was included over there for 8.99,well that's what it sounded like in a video from Dana I saw which prompted my post. Wouldn't be a surprise if Dana is talking shite as usual though. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted January 17 Paid Members Posted January 17 Nah, it's only over there. It's a cracking deal if you are a fan though compared to what it used to cost. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted January 20 Paid Members Posted January 20 this is pretty cool news, BBC iPlayer will be showing some UK MMA for all of 2026... Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted April 15 Paid Members Posted April 15 Mark Hunt’s been arrested for domestic violence and stalking. Apparently texted the victim “I’m just going to murder you in the end anyway”. Fuck sake. One of my favourite fighters of all time and he’s just another absolute scumbag cunt in a sport full of them. "A sport full of felons and liars and horrific people.” - Jordan Breen And that was coming from someone who was consumed with the sport in a way few have been before or since. I considered Hunt to be one of the better characters in the sport before this. Shame. Quote
Dai Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Horrible! I wonder how much he/people will use the more than likely dozens of concussions as some sort of excuse. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted April 16 Paid Members Posted April 16 Hunt is a pretty troubled character. I think the fans perceptions of what they thought he was and what he actually was never really matched up, even in his fighting days. Quote
