Paid Members Egg Shen Posted February 7, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 7, 2025 when he first came into the UFC Cruz was one of the main WEC stars coming over and was very much the main man at 135lb. Does make you wonder what his legacy may have been if he'd not got injured in 2011. Few fighters have had their careers ravaged by injury like Cruz. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted February 7, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 7, 2025 Yeah I tweeted something similar earlier. The fact he’s got such a strong record despite losing a huge chunk of his prime years to injury tells you how good he was. As good as his record looks, just imagine if he’d been able to stay active in those lost years too. It’s largely forgotten now but he also brought a whole different style to the lighter weight classes with all the frantic movement and weird footwork and darting in and out. Then we saw TJ Dillashaw put his own spin on that style and had success with it and I think it’s morphed into a lot of what we see now. I’m still of the belief that Cruz is probably the greatest Bantamweight in MMA history. Or at least he has been for years. I think Merab’s the only guy who can argue against it now with the run he’s on currently. Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted February 7, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 7, 2025 It's a shame Renan Barão had his soul taken by Cheating Cunt Dillashaw and went on a downward spiral of losses, or he'd have probably taken that accolade. Quote

One that got away… Barao’s a funny one though. I’m a big believer that the two Dillashaw fights just left him a shell of himself because how else can you explain such a sharp decline coinciding with those beatings? Who knows what he might’ve gone on to do if not for those losses? But I don’t think there are enough elite level wins on his record to rival Cruz’s resume or Merab’s now. Barao’s downfall was one of the most devastating and sudden ever though. Mad how quickly he went from being talked about as one of the pound-for-pound best in the sport to a ‘where is he now?’ losing in curtain jerkers on the Fight Pass stream. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted February 7, 2025 Paid Members Posted February 7, 2025 (edited) it's also probably not a coincidence and not wrong to mention that USADA's association started with the UFC in 2015, in between the first and second Dillashaw fights with regards to Barao's sudden demise. NeverYield Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 He could be out in a year or so with reduction for Time served, and hopefully he is. Prosecutors asking for 30 to life is a joke. He won't have no grief anyway, A.) Due to the scummy ways of the person he went after and B.) Due to who he is. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted April 1, 2025 Paid Members Posted April 1, 2025 I was gonna start a GFL Thread but I still cant see this getting off the ground. Come fight week I expect a Fyre Festival style collapse of epic proportions. First two shows have been fully announced now, back to back days. Look at this mental shit. Im not trying to be negative either, I hope this happens. Quote
kidzero Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 Anyone know if The Ultimate Fighter season 33 air on fight pass at the end of may? Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted April 20, 2025 Paid Members Posted April 20, 2025 I see an Interim title incoming. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted April 20, 2025 Paid Members Posted April 20, 2025 And they’ll throw bastard Strickland or Adesanya back in there again because it’s the way they roll now. Might as well rebrand to UFCGold the amount of re-runs they do. Bag of wank. After a 2024 that was lacking in truly big fights, in 2025 we should be gearing up for Jones vs Aspinall, Makhachev vs Topuria and Du Plessis vs Chimaev. None of them are probably happening. Jones doesn’t want any of Aspinall, Makhachev doesn’t seem keen on the Topuria fight and now DDP’s on the bench for who knows how long? Oh well, least we’ve got Merab vs O’Malley 2, Volk vs Yair 2, Pena as champ, a load of Apex shite and loads of Trump worship to look forward to. Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted April 20, 2025 Paid Members Posted April 20, 2025 Well, at the very least we might see Chimaev finally put the nail in the coffin of Strickland's career (assuming the UFC matchmakers haven't finally given up on him after his performance against DDP). Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted April 20, 2025 Paid Members Posted April 20, 2025 There's no way they throw Strickland in, surely? Quote
