Jesus.

When I clicked on the link to his long tweet I didn't expect to see an entire fucking essay.

Dear @WWEGraves,

You are extremely knowledgeable about the product, and I have been very happy with the job you are doing on #Raw each Monday...though not thrilled with the sarcasm for the GM from a member of the announce team.

My mention of having @MauroRanallo and @WWEDanielBryan call Cruiserweight matches on #Raw is really just wishful thinking; in the real world, there is very little chance that the #SmackDownLIVE GM and play-by-play man are going to wander over to the competition.

But it would be my wish that Cruiserweight matches on Raw capture that same magic that was in the air during the #CruiserweightClassic - a feat which can be very difficult to pull off. Just think back to last summer, when many of the Raw audiences apparantly hadn't gotten the memo that a #WomensRevolution was underway. I do believe that the Cruiserweights are going to be a very valuable and successful part of Raw. But I also believe that in order to have the greatest chance of success, their matches need to be seen as something different - and part of that difference could have been bringing the same announced team that had endeared themselves to the #CruiserweightClassic audience over to #Raw. If not for the very real competition between Raw and SmackDownLIVE, I believe it could have happened - and I believe it would have helped the product.

Bringing in different announcers to make matches feel unique is nothing new in WWE. I was very happy to have Joey Styles call my match with Edge at WrestleMania with Edge in 2006, and I believe that bringing in Jim Ross to call the #HIAC match with Triple H and The Undertaker added a great deal to that classic confrontation. I don't believe the regular announce the teams felt slighted by these special inclusions, but I could do some checking for you.

In the future Corey, I will try to remember that I am no longer just a guy at home sending out tweets, but instead part of an important show where the people I work with count on me to support them. Hopefully moving forward, you can address any issue you may have with me in less public manor. As a very knowledgeable student of the game, you could no doubt tell that I have been under a great deal of pressure lately. I would prefer not to have any further sarcastic public displays of disrespect adding to that pressure.

Sincerely,

Mick Foley
General Manager, Monday Night Raw

Ive read on a number of sites that WWE are considering a womens tournament next year.

Obviously, this is all just rumours but, if they do, remember you heard it here first! :)

Seriously though, I reckon they should. Change things up a bit. Do another cruiser one in 2 years if there's still interest in it.

I could see them maybe doing 2 a year. Womens early next year and tag/"Big Man" at the end of the year. Cruiserweight again early in 2018 and another in September of that year.

Echo the love for moving the unexpected picks into the final. Made for a thrilling finale.

What a tidy little tournament it's been. I don't need all my wrestling like that but it makes a nice change.

You are depressingly correct that it will end up being 6 man tags of 4 minute spotfestsnon Raw.

Unless I've picked up on this wrong, is Mick Foley trying to say that Jim Ross was brought in especially to announce his HIAC matches against Taker and Triple H?

Nevermind the fact that JR was calling the entire card for King of the Ring 1998 and No Way Out 2000. It's rather absurd to suggest that they change the announce team for a single 7 minute match on TV each week.

Get a women's tourney going where they are all ex porn stars and let Foley just sit outside full sail in his santa jumper wanking off, fucking tosspot with his backhanded compliments all the time and stupid innuendo.

Fucking brilliant show by the way, I ragged TJ for being unlikeable, but I tell ya what tonight he personally turned me around, great underdog showing and a cracking, real promo at the end. Well done TJ.

You are getting it a bit wrong pal, I'm pretty sure he means that JR came in at WrestleMania 27 and 28 to call the 'Taker/Triple H matches. Easy mistake to make though considering what a maungy self absorbed twerp Foley is.

If nothing else, that tournament proved that wrestling isn't some binary choice between dry wrestling matches and telling stories. Just because you didn't have heavily written soap opera storylines, lengthy promos and angles, you still had plenty of stories being told in and across the matches. Obviously it helps to have a tournament format where in every match it really does matter who wins, but you still had stuff like the Brian Kendrick redemption story, Perkins pulling off the big upset, Tony Nese feeling overlooked, Cedric Alexander winning a contract, Gargano battling his partner, Gargano losing as a result of an injury from the NXT match.

You also had the beautifully simple booking that Gran Metalik hit his finisher four times to win four matches and get to the final, beaten out only by TJ Perkins hitting his finisher five times to win five matches and take the title.
