Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted September 18, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted September 18, 2016 Devils Rejects is blinding, and I like about 30% of House of 1000 corpses. All the rest is toss
Keith Houchen
Watched Moon last night. Really good film I thought, and the soundtrack added to the experience.
kidkris
I personally love devils rejects, house of a thousand corpses the first Halloween remake and bits of lords of Salem. Â Fair enough if he ain't your thing but I promise you this film is well worth it

Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted September 24, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted September 24, 2016 Thought 31 was absolute shite to be honest. Same as every Rob Zombie film, filled with every 70s horror movie cliché you can get and his untalented plank of wood wife.
The Clint
I enjoyed both of Zombie's Halloween remakes but that might've been because Scout Taylor Compton played Laurie. I was planning on giving 31 a watch but now I'm not really bothered. It's had some terrible reviews. Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted September 24, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted September 24, 2016 For a film like that to have come out about a week ago and have a 5.4 on IMDB, when you'd think that all the horror diehards will have given it high numbers, suggests to me that it's truly shite. I think I'll wait till it's in the pound shop.

Paid Members Surf Digby Posted September 25, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted September 25, 2016 "Men Behind the Sun" is a lesser known gory Japanese one. Some absolutely terrible stuff in there. On Youtube as well. Â The sequel to this (Laboratory of the Devil) has an actual, genuine human being sliced up in it.Whatever country it was filmed in, they paid the surgeons doing an autopsy to wear WW2 style outfits and ham it up for the cameras. Keith Houchen
Case 39 Â Renee Zellweger is wonderful. The film, not so much.
Paid Members Scott Malbranque Posted September 26, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted September 26, 2016 Didn't know whether to put this in the Gig thread or here, so I'll just opt for here:  The Aliens with the live orchestra show was great. First half, they fucked up a few times and if you know the movie inside out, you can’t unhear that, but after the interval they switched two of the rhythm section, pulled it back, didn’t miss a trick and to hear Bishops Countdown live, blew my ballbag into row Z. Incredible stuff... Was only thinking that I never want to see Alien3 or Resurrection again. Ever. In my head, Ripley, Hicks and Newt went back to Earth as a readymade family and Bishop was like the family pet, dragging himself around on his arse like a dog with worms. Mr_Danger
Wasn't Neil Blomkamp meant to be rebooting it from Aliens as if the shitty sequels never happened but Scott pulled the plug to make more shitty Prometheus films? Â Anyway, Blair Witch was fucking intense! I didn't realise it was more of a Evil Dead 2 sequel/remake but yeah I've never been so immersed in a horror ever. They have some great scares and some scenes have you gasping for air. Just a great horror experience.
RIDDUM_N_STYLE
Got started on my annual horror movie marathon a few days early with two films tonight  First I watched The Pit and The Pendulum, the 1961 version starring the great Vincent Price which was an absolute joy to watch, didn't lose interest in it once, mostly down to Price's performance as I do tend to enjoy any film he is in. If you are a fan of Poe adaptations or Roger Corman films, it is worth a watch  The second was a rare modern film for me, being more an old school horror fan, that being The Final Girls. I didn't think I would like this going into it but I couldn't have been more wrong, it was fantastically meta in that the main characters had to team up with the main characters in the Friday the 13th style film, one of whom was the main girl's mother in character. Definitely worth a viewing

Yeah, it was an actual male teenager (it might have been a child, been ages since I watched it and I try not to think about that kind of stuff), which makes the thing even more dodgier.  It's amazing what shit got passed the BBFC in the 80s and what didn't. David Hamilton directed French "soft-core" porn films that had underage girls all over the place and they were passed by the BBFC (and still being sold on Amazon). Not on really.
