It was supposed to be cartoon shorts, like those old Cartoon Networks things (what Johnny Bravo started out as) or how the Simpsons started on Tracy Ullman. They'd recently hired Riki Rachtman as well. The whole concept for Nitro in 99 was to turn it into this entertainment show. You'd have wrestling on it, the Nitro Girls doing their bit, a cartoon, live bands like KISS and Megadeth, MTV's resident dip ship Rachtman presenting it and all kinds of other shit like million dollar giveaways and all that bollocks that was touted. WCW even started doing soap opera stuff in 99, with Hogan and Nash going to shooting ranges with Torrie Wilson, and the commentators had to pretend nobody on earth knew this was happening. Â Bischoff really wanted WCW Nitro to turn into a live entertainment show. He had a real hard on for celebrities at the time.
