Regal's just tweeted a picture (from a PowerSlam piece I wrote nonetheless) of a match he had with Hashimoto and noted that he passed on the trunks and boots to a young Daniel Bryan, who wore them for most of his ROH run.

Yeah, used to be a passionate player, I believe. I assume Val Venis is a fan too.

Sean Mooney was into his rugby too.

I tweeted that photo to Regal when I was going few some old Power Slam magazines a few months back. He thanked me for sending the pic but I didn't know that about the trunks & boots.

It was an article about him touring the world defending his WCW Title (can't remember if it was when he was U.S. champ or T.V. champ) in 1996.

Is it true he actually wrestled for All-Star a few times whilst being an active WCW wrestler? I'm sure I heard that somewhere.

I tweeted him a few photos from Power Slam's at the time. I put a caption with one of him, Dave Taylor, & Fit Finlay backstage in WCW saying something like "look at these toe-rags" and he replied "Ooh, hark at you dear!". Fail.

I was the one who broke that news to the UKFF! When he sent me a glowing e-mail bumming rugby in Wales.

Yeah, he mentions his 1996 "World Tour" with the TV Title in his book. I think it was All Star, possibly Orig Williams, CWA, and NJPW. I want to say over Christmas? Probably so he could get home for it.

I have a match on a comp featuring Robbie Brookside's video diaries, where Brookside wrestles Regal for the WCW TV title on a All Star show.

On a related note, Bill Dundee as Mr William always amused me. He was hilarious in that role. WCW seemed to have anyone ever under contract in the mid-90s. I bet if Big Daddy wasn't 90% on his arse in 1996, they'd have brought him in.

Regal did a singles match with Brookside at Croydon, then came back the next month for an 'All Star Rumble', which was a slightly odd match where numbers one and two (Regal and Marty Jones) had a singles match where if either man lost they'd be out and the Rumble would continue as normal with number three. If they went to a 10 minute time limit, which they did, both would carry on in the Rumble.

The main question is did Regal come to the ring waving a jolly roger so we knew he was bad?

He certainly would have if Daniel Bryan had his trunks that night.

Are we sure Regal's not pulling our collective leg? It is an identical outfit but surely Regal would be like a giant standing next to Bryan. There's no way they have the same boot size for a start. Edited by fraserbee

I seriously couldn't care less about Wrestlemania this year and I have no idea why. Every year I seem to have been sucked into the product by now but for some reason, its creeped up on me and I'm debating if I'll even bother at all. Suppose I'm alone in that regard.

You're not alone, gary. Almost everybody on here has had a wee moan about how underwhelmed they are with the show.

Personally, I gave up watching WWE in the Winter and only decided to get back into it because 'Mania season is usually good. However, it's been weeks and weeks of some right toss.

Sting v Triple H and Cena v Rusev has been pretty strong the past two weeks, which is something. The rest, not so much.
