Forrest
MVP went into length when he was on Court Bauer's podcast about when he debuted, he was originally going to have sponsors on his gear, with them plugging how he was endorsed by companies like Burger King and Nike. The idea was nixed, I believe, because there was a ton of rights issues regarding the logos once the five year contract (purely an example for talking sake) had expired and would have probably resulted in them being forced to blur half his outfit out. King Pitcos
Aye, sponsor logos are out, for the obvious reasons. Lesnar's are photoshopped off his gear for stuff like DVD covers and WWE posters. Â For their own logos... Didn't wrestlers used to complain about wrestling on rings with transfers on because they kept slipping or something? It is interesting that most of the WWF rings for figures have had the big logo sticker, though.
Vamp
CMLL are amazing for sponsors, there's barely an inch of ringside not covered in logos, makes it look a big deal. They also had a wrestler names after a newspaper.

Van Dammer
Do they have sponsors ont he canvas or apron at house shows though? Im sure ive seen that in WWE before.
andrew "the ref" coyne
I'd argue that sponsorship ages the product, which I think may bit part of the reason too. It's like why most wrestlers don't wear modern clothes and are 99% in their wrestling gear, even when they aren't competing; it's to help keep the footage timeless. Shane O' Mac Version 2
Lesnar would have probably been in the middle of his Jimmy Johns contract when he quit UFC and returned to WWE, right? That's probably the reason he still wears the logos, rather than being any special exception.
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted February 3, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted February 3, 2014 (edited) Hulk Hogan just turned up on a Radio Shack commercial during the Super Bowl. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FF3T6-jJhSc  Lesnar would have probably been in the middle of his Jimmy Johns contract when he quit UFC and returned to WWE, right? That's probably the reason he still wears the logos, rather than being any special exception. WWE have nothing to do with Jimmy Johns. Plenty of wrestlers have contracts with sponsors before signing WWE deals. Doesn't mean they can plaster them all over their gear and advertise them on TV. If WWE wants them to drop all that shite, they would have told him to. But they didn't. He had to get them to agree to that before he signed. Paid Members bAzTNM#1 Posted February 3, 2014 Paid Members Share Posted February 3, 2014 (edited) Is WWE grappling popular in Pakistan, Iraq and Afghanistan? Just that in Morgan Spurlock's documentary "Where in the World is Bin Laden?" everybody seems to be watching it. Even some guy associated with the top brass of Al Qaeda. Some guy, selling early 90s WWF shirts, says that it's all fake apart from the title matches too. Kayfabe lives. Brilliant. King Pitcos
According to Bret Hart, he's actually more revered in the middle east than the prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Bret is an egomaniacal wet-talker, mind, but his book does have a few stories about how obsessed they were over there.
