cobra_gordo
Took the family to see No Time To Die at the cinema on Friday. We were going to see Venom 2 because we thought it was a 12a but changed plans last minute and saw Bond instead so our youngest could go. You know what, I loved it. I'd heard so many bad reviews and whilst it's not perfect and certain characters don't get anywhere near enough screen time I walked out of the cinema with a big smile on my face and a warm glow in my heart. Maybe it's because We Have All The Time In The World is arguably my favourite song ever, maybe it was the On Her Majesty's secret service nods or the brown Vantage turning up but as a Craig swansong, couldn't knock it. And give me more Ben Wishaw having dates interrupted. It definitely feels like these 5 films are a standalone franchise altogether, like a side mission from "regular" Bond. And I have no issue with how NTTD ended if viewed that way. Definitely excited for what comes next though.
5pints
I'm late to the party with this one but only just got round to watching No Time To Die. Just not sure what to make of it. The whole thing fell flat. The scenery and action scenes were uninspired. Daniel Craig was delivering his lines like he was just trying to get the whole thing over and done with as quickly as possible. The new 007 being a woman felt like a marketing trick to get punters into the cinema. Not much thought went into her character and they didn't really go anywhere with her. They would have been better off with having a man as his replacement to really hurt his ego. That way they could finish off what Skyfall started with the signs of Bond slowing down and coming to the end of his usefulness as a 00. At nearly three hours a whole lot of nothing went on. Outside of the main characters, everyone else was left standing there twiddling their thumbs with not much to do. Didn't really get a chance to delve into Rami Maliks character. He was there at the beginning, then he was gone for a long period of time, then pops up just to let you know there is supposed to be a bad guy in the movie and then right at the end he shows off his bottany skills. Will definitely need to give this one another watch and see how I feel afterwards. The editing felt strange at times. There were scenes where there are two people walking down a hallway, it cuts to a side view showing a third person trying to catch up with them. When it cuts back to the front view again and they're talking it felt like a second of footage was cut. Hard to explain but when you watch it again look out for it and it'll stand out. On a positive note. Good to see they gave some love to Daltons Aston Martin. A nice little touch there. Edited December 28, 2021 by 5pints
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted May 9, 2022 Author Paid Members Share Posted May 9, 2022 For me it's got to be Connery in The Hill. Unbelievable film, that, maybe an outside shout for UKFF fave Sidney Lumet's best film. Then again, if you count Craig as an actual Bond he's done Knives Out and Logan Lucky. Then again, Rog did this:- Â
Loki
Amazon Prime have added every single Bond movie in glorious HD, including Never Say Never Again. I actually don’t know where to start… Dr No I guess but I’ll never make it through all of them.  In answer to your question, D Mal, I’d say The Man Who Would Be King is my favourite - if you allow it as it’s pre Never Say Never. SuperBacon
I was going to do that after watching the latest (really enjoyed it) but then wanted to watch my favourite (Goldeneye) immediately and then wanted some Roger, so watched Moonraker (still fantastic). But I think I'll go back through them properly.
Paid Members bAzTNM#1 Posted May 16, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted May 16, 2022 (edited) Anybody see that new George Lazenby biopic \ Film "Becoming Bond"? Seems like a mish-mash of an actual film and a documentary from the trailer. I must say Lazenby looks good for his age. ADDED: From the "Never Say Never Again' trivia on Amazon Prime. Around this time Sean Connery was stopped for speeding by a Sgt. James Bond. Edited May 16, 2022 by bAzTNM#
Loki
Never Say Never Again is the oddest film, even more so in context which I didn't get seeing it on the telly back in the 80s. Â It came out in the same year as Octopussy, meaning it was a double Bond year! Â The two films feel from completely different eras, not unsurprisingly. Â I think this is because it's all about SPECTRE/Blofeld which of course the Eon movies had been legally forced to drop from the series years before, so suddenly you're back in familiar territory. Â Connery looks great too - despite the much mocked 15 year gap when he returned to the role, he was actually younger than Moore. It's a really GOOD Bond. Â And considering the hugely cynical nature of the production, that's something of a miracle. Â And now it's owned by EON/MGM so it's back in fold as essentially an official Bond movie. Paid Members bAzTNM#1 Posted May 16, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted May 16, 2022 Didn't NSNE make more money than "Octopussy" and the lawsuits started flying?
stewdogg
Never Say Never Again is not a Bond film. It might have a character called James Bond but it's not a Bond film. Same with Casino Royale (the not Daniel Craig one).

It's just totally a weird idea. You really can only really legally remake "Thunderball". No other funny ideas. Must have given Sean Connery a big fat bag of money to return. He did look like he "could kick some ass" in that film, whilst old Roger was getting stuntmen all over the place to do that for him. WyattSheepMask
For anyone that missed them before when there were all available at the time of No Time To Die’s release, all of the Bonds are back on Amazon Prime
SuperBacon
Daisy May Cooper will* be the next M. Amazing. https://www.theguardian.com/film/2023/mar/23/daisy-may-cooper-as-m-james-bond-007-comedy I hope she gets to ask Bond what's in a BLT. *Heavily rumoured. Apologies. Paid Members Jazzy G Posted October 13, 2023 Paid Members Share Posted October 13, 2023 (edited) Looks like the Bonds are back on Prime, except for No Time To Die. Time for another Roger Moore/Timothy Dalton binge, methinks. Maybe I'll give Dr No and From Russia With Love a watch as well. Edited October 13, 2023 by jazzygeofferz
