Paid Members Bellenda Carlisle Posted March 22, 2012 Paid Members Posted March 22, 2012 my favourite was scollops on award winning Irish black pudding, topped off wth organic green pee puree. Spent the weekend in Edinburgh, we went to the 'Michelin star' restaurant 'The Plumed Horse' in Leith & had the tasting menu. Absolutely tremendous stuff, some of the best food I've had. If you're local to E'Burgh or going up & are celebrating I'd 100% recommend it. Not that I'd ever go to Scotland but I'm interested, what sort of dishes were on it? We had 3 little appetizers when we sat down, a cube of smoked salmon terrine with caviar on top, a beetroot thingy with creme freche & a black pudding fritter with plum jam. *no need to quote whole menu again* I've always fancied trying one of those fancy tasting menus, that one seems pretty nice, cheers for typing it up so I could see. Seems fucking expensive though, were you full? Quote

I know but this nigga seems to know what he's talking about. I wanted to know if he had a "best place he's ever eaten" down here, why trust reviews or official recommendations when I can ask an anonymous wrestling fan? Quote
Loki Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 (edited) If you can get out there, The French Table in Surbiton is hands down the best food I've eaten in the UK (apart possibly from Raymond Blanc's Manoir au Quat' Saisons). And it's really not that expensive. http://www.thefrenchtable.co.uk/ Edited March 22, 2012 by Loki Quote

Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted March 22, 2012 Moderators Posted March 22, 2012 Browns actually do really decent food for a chain pub. Been to a lot of leaving dos there, and their sharing/snack plates are damn fine. I'd be interested to know about this gourmet tapas place of which you speak. Steve - you're in North London right? One awesome place that comes to mind that I've been meaning to go back to is The Mango Rooms, just around the corner from Camden station. Really nice modern Caribbean place. And obviously there's lots of decent places to go out around there for a drink after. Could be a good place to take your girl..? Quote
Paid Members Bellenda Carlisle Posted March 22, 2012 Paid Members Posted March 22, 2012 I went to an amazing tapas place off oxford street, it was gorgeous, interested to know where dead mike's place is. I've never been to a carribean restaurant chest, sounds interesting and Camden is my hood. Quote
Paid Members Dead Mike Posted March 22, 2012 Paid Members Posted March 22, 2012 (edited) Just checked. It's called 'Maze' on Grosvenor Sq, fromlooking on Google it's apparently owned by Gorson Ramsay? When we had lunch there you wouldn't have known...there wasn't pics of him about the place or anything or I was oblvious to it (this was about 2 1/2 years ago) ? It was really nice though. I didn't realise 'Browns' was a chain? I've only been to the one in Windsor but it was nice & I don't remember it being overly pricey (I wasn't paying). Edited March 22, 2012 by Dead Mike Quote
