This one is a bumblebee spider morph so I'm told. Steve, the other snake, is a ball python. He's a good lad. Quote
lars85 Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 Had to take him to the vets today. Found a lump on his back. I was so worried, thinking the worst. Luckily it turns out it was just a cyst and he's going to be ok. But those few days of uncertainty were hell. Love this boy more than anything and I'm so thankful he's ok. Just wanted to show him looking happy. Quote
Paid Members Jazzy G Posted July 14, 2024 Paid Members Posted July 14, 2024 He looks so happy. Went out with my friend and her dog today for the first time in a while. Without even realising I'd ended up dressing in clothes that matched Molly's jacket. My friend got a great picture of us. Then when I got home from the Hotpots gig tonight Sapphire was being SUPER clingy. Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted July 14, 2024 Members Posted July 14, 2024 Oz keeping watch over the neighbourhood. Oz shouting at the pigeons. Nova watching the birds in her garden. And Lunar looking at a mozzarella stick. Such a beautiful girl. Yes she got the mozzarella stick. Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted August 16, 2024 Paid Members Posted August 16, 2024 This is Roger, and I've never been happier to see his gormless face peering over the side of his cage the moment he heard the fridge door open. He's been unwell - he was making pained noises last Friday, and then on Saturday he was peeing blood, and we rushed him to the vets. It just happened to be the day that we'd let a friend borrow the car, so we had to get him there on the train in sweltering heat, which just made me more worried for him. They prodded and poked him, found he probably had a bit of a blockage downstairs that they managed to take care of, injected him with a painkiller, and had him two types of medication for the next five days, mostly antibiotics to help him heal. For most of this week he has been quiet, sluggish, off his food, and spending his days hiding away in the corner under the covered part of his cage. My girlfriend has been away at a festival since Wednesday, so the stress and worry have been amplified tenfold as I have been absolutely terrified that the worst will happen while she's away. Today, the first day that he's no longer on his meds, I opened his cage and he rushed out to see me - something he does most days, but hasn't been doing at all while he's been sick. He's still not quite himself, but it's good to see my little boy on the mend. Quote
Paid Members Thunderplex Posted August 16, 2024 Paid Members Posted August 16, 2024 Love Guinea Pigs. The bottom lip cracks me up, and they always look like they are busy doing something. Glad he’s doing better. Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted August 19, 2024 Paid Members Posted August 19, 2024 (edited) He always looks like you've either caught him doing something he shouldn't, or interrupted some important business. He's now basically back to normal after his latest health scare, the perfect little idiot. Edited August 19, 2024 by BomberPat Quote

Unfortunately, today is the day I upset those who have the same worry. My 10 year old cat Lily has today been diagnosed with lymphoma and to say I am devastated would be a massive understatement. Over the last week her appetite has decreased significantly. It happened to coincide with the day we tried her on a different brand of food and I assumed she was just being picky, but it carried on after switching back to the original stuff. I took her to the vets yesterday and they initially said she has a heart murmur and enlarged intestines with some mild dehydration, so they gave her some drugs to increase her appetite which didn’t really seem to do much. When I woke up this morning, I just knew she was ill. She’s usually in bed with us by 6am trying to wake us up for food, even in the last few days, but today she just stayed on the landing and didn’t seem bothered at all. I was a bit encouraged when she ate some biscuits and she was purring like a motherfucker when I gave her some attention, but I took her back to the vets and, yeah, lymphoma. I now need to make the decision of chemotherapy, palliative care or having her put to sleep. After a quick google search, chemo seems to do quite well with certain types of lymphoma, but not others, and unfortunately the type she most likely has has the worst prognosis. I’d imagine we’ll bring her home and keep her comfortable for a few weeks - my fiancée is in Spain this week and I can’t have her put to sleep without giving her the chance to say goodbye. So yeah, really sorry to bring the mood down. I’m a complete wreck at the moment and I have no idea how I’m going to go to work tomorrow and for the next few weeks when I want to spend every last minute with her. Fuck getting another pet, I’m not sure this pain is worth it. Well fuck me, for a cat who was given roughly 6 weeks to live with palliative care, four and a half months definitely wasn’t what I expected. We had her put to sleep on Tuesday. She was doing so well to the extent that we were wondering if she would make it until the end of the year, but then last week we noticed her kidneys were starting to swell and then she stopped eating. By Monday it was clear this was the end for her, and the vets who came to the house to put her to sleep said she probably wouldn’t have made it until the end of the day in the state she was in. We’re both devastated of course, but the last four months with her have been absolutely lush and gave us time to come to terms with it. I’m surprised at the relief I felt almost immediately after she passed to be honest. Mischievous little cow until the very end though, she chose my birthday and less than two weeks before our wedding to be put to sleep! Will miss her more than anything I can imagine. Paid Members Carbomb Posted September 2, 2024 Paid Members Posted September 2, 2024 A few years after losing our beloved Shimi, we finally welcome little Cimarron (or Cima for short, to get a "Who got de keys to ma bimma?" response) to the house. We're fostering her through the RSPCA with intent to adopt after three weeks. She was found with a necrotised tail that had to be amputated (some shithead had put rubber bands around it), but she's recovering very well, and is a bright little spark, and very affectionate. Paid Members BomberPat Posted September 4, 2024 Paid Members Posted September 4, 2024 She is adorable! Quote
Paid Members Carbomb Posted September 4, 2024 Paid Members Posted September 4, 2024 Yeh, we're thoroughly delighted; my sister is very much of the mindset that "the pet chooses you", and I don't think we could've got a much better indicator when we first went to see her at the RSPCA. The moment they opened the box, which was about face height, she went up to my sister, sniffed her, then licked her on the tip of her nose. She's a little livewire too, always running around. Also probably the only cat I've ever seen actually use her scratching post instead of ignoring it and clawing at the furniture instead. I mean, she does claw the furniture a bit, but in addition to the post. Quote
