Anyone seen MMA uncensored this week? Frank Shamrock was the guest, and he had some interesting shit to say about Dana White. Worth a watch if you can get hold of it and have the time.

I will give this a shot, have not watched this show since its first episode.

the show's worth a look every week, ive mentioned before that it's all too brief and subjects aint properly dissected but it's a enjoyable 20mins.

The host on their in a complete cretin though.

Joe Stevenson had his first post-fight UFC fight last night and was choked out by Dakota Cochrane in the 2nd round. Stevenson's fall continues.

That's unfortunate. After watching some behind the scenes stuff, he just seemed like a good person. A decent family man. I hope he can improve and make a comeback to the UFC sometime.

Maybe it's just me but does Overeem look slightly leaner there to anyone else? He's still obviously massive but he looks a bit less massive to me around the arms/shoulders.

On the subject of Overeem, I think he should go back to the 'Demolition Man' nickname, bring back that wooden hammer thing and most importantly...

Use that as his walkout music.

You know you're career is in the shitter when you start getting beat by a gay porn-star.

In all seriousness, quite the fall from grace for him since UFC 80.

I can't believe just how far and how quickly Joe Stevenson has fallen. I was at the BJ Penn fight and although no-one expected him to win, he was seen at least as a credible challenger. Even after the beating BJ gave him, he was still decent. It wasn't so long ago he was beating Nate Diaz quite convincingly, now look where the two of them are. What happened?

I was never really a fan, of his, he always came off as a bit of a twat to me but he was a good solid fighter. It's like after he lost the Sotiropoulos fight he just went through the motions and his heart wasn't fully in it. The KO loss to Danzig was weird, it was a good shot and credit to Danzig but that wasn't a shot I'd expect someone as experienced and durable as Stevenson to get caught with.

He just seems allergic to winning these days. Still, I love his fights with Sotiropoulos, Diaz and Pellegrino.

^^^

His TUF finale fight with my boy Luke Cummo was a fun little match up too. I got lot's of time for Joe Daddy, sucks to be see him falling off so hard.

In other news, Siyar Bahadurzada is out of his fight at UFC 149. Shitty news, wasn't he just coming back off an injury? Theres some crazed anticipation for seeing this guy fight again.

Believe it or not, at the time of the fight a lot picked Stevenson to win, with his cardio taking over in the later rounds. BJ was still unproven as a dedicated fighter at this point, or at least dedicated enough to make a dent at 155lbs as the only win he had leading up was against Jens Pulver. People reasoned that it would look like the 2nd Hughes fight a year or so before, they were wrong but that was put out there.

I was never a massive fan, it is amazing how he beat Nate then fell of a cliff as said, with how big Nate is now. The move down to 145lbs I felt was a good one, but it did not stop me from picking Javier Velasquez against him, I felt his day was done at that point and he had peaked as a fighter despite him being younger than his fight record would suggest (he has just turned 30!)

I was never a fan of TUF 2 which he won, the fighters on it did not have the heart of the public like TUF 1 did, I know it produced Rashad but it was a difficult season, it did not have the critical and commercial success of the 1st season or the season that followed it. So Stevenson is forgotten about as a TUF winner despite it coming at a time when it still meant something, by season 6 it meant fuck all.

I got round to watching MMA Uncensored.

The Frank vs Dana debate will rage on with the fans, both are strongly disliked by some and maybe the majority of MMA fans.

I am one of the few who likes both, Frank is one of my favorites and can appreciate he was the best fighter of the 90's, a time when I was too young to be watching UFC. His comeback whilst a flop inside the cage was good commercially, the hype to the Baroni was insane on the internet and fight with Cung Le is a bit of a classic.

Personally I like him, I have always taken his side over his knucklehead adopted brother, and feel he is a smart guy. I can see why others thing he is annoying though, still, Dana should put grudges aside and put him in the Hall Of Fame.

He was the best of his era from around 1997-1999, yes Tito would have beaten in a rematch if they fought in say 2000/2001 as he would have been too big and less green , but Frank was from a generation beforehand where the sport was less advanced. His talent and skills were the very best for a while, and long enough for him to be seen as a all-time great.

In a shit era? Yes the sport was on its knees, but still Frank helped advance the sport by simply making fighters catch up to him as he took it seriously as a sport. The UFC only got backing by Zuffa as Lorenzo Ferrtita talked to Frank and was impressed with how professional he was as opposed to the stereotypical knuckledragger that Tank Abbot and Don Frye lived up to. Lorenzo saw due to Frank that UFC had potential as a sport instead the freakshow many felt it was at the time.

Dana will not put his petty grudge aside, which is a shame his HOF will suffer from lack of legitimacy from it. Frank is just as worthy as Tito and Hughes, more than Coleman, Ken and Severn.

Man, I didn't remember people picking Stevenson over Penn, then again I didn't follow MMA online as much back then. Like any fan of MMA I get a lot of predictions wrong, it's just such a hard sport to call but I had BJ to win that one pretty much from the off. I didn't expect the massacre we got though. I rated Stevenson back then but I thought he'd struggle to get takedowns and be forced to stand, and I was never all that convinced of his striking. I just thought BJ was a really tough match for him to work his style against.

Looking back I see the reasoning for picking Stevenson. But at the time I saw him as pretty much a straight grappler with basic boxing and T-Rex arms.I thought BJ had him beat in BJJ and standing.

Tell you what though, that was my first live UFC and to this day it's the one fight I've seen live that left a really lasting impression on me.

Gotta be the most scary performance I've seen in person. Barao at 138 was the only other anywhere close with that goosebump feeling.

it is a bit of baffling one with Stevenson, you'd think if he'd fallen off directly after the Penn fight it might have been to the beating he had in that fight, but he got 2 solid wins after that and then started to crumble. When did his affiliation with Jackson's start? im pretty sure it was around the time of the Sotiriopolous fight? I'll never forget the satisfaction of seeing Joe get the grin smacked off his face in that fight, i actually quite like the guy but he came into that fight way over confident.

He came in heavy on Saturday too, (160lb) and had to donate some of his purse to Cochrane, apparently he was dominated during the fight as well. Harsh times for Joe Daddy.
