I'm not planning too and I'm sure they have bigger fish to fry but whats the law's stance on just buying the US release?

I'm under the impression (fuck knows where from) you can import what you like for personal use as long as it would get a BBFC classification if submitted, is that right?

if its not rated then its illegal, it must have a cert rating or else its illegal.

can't show a bag over some cunts heed but you can see mutilation and FOD series, we have some fucked up laws in this country, its like porn rating from the bbfc, its just utterly stupid. 18 r18

I've had another look and found this on the BBFC

The Video Recordings Act 1984 makes it illegal to supply any video or DVD within the UK which has not been classified by the BBFC, unless it is exempt. Although it is not a Customs offence to import an unclassified video or DVD, it must be for your personal use only and the content must not breach the prohibition on the importation of indecent and obscene material which reflects other UK laws (eg the Obscene Publications Acts 1959 and 1964, the Protection of Children Act 1978). You are therefore entitled to purchase unclassified videos/DVDs whilst abroad, provided they contain no illegal material and are solely for personal use.

This may be where I got the concept from.

Ugh. I really like the idea of the documentary, but I can't see myself paying for a set where two thirds of it is stuff I already have on official DVD. I suspect a lot of people will be in the same boat.

Erm suit yourself, but I'm still really looking forward to it - it looks a great release.

I'm not saying it isn't a great set and a pretty decent selection of matches, just that I suspect most people who'd be willing to pay for a documentary about WrestleMania behind the scenes probably have some or even all of the shows on disc already. There's not really anyway round it short of it being a one-disc, low-price set.

Off-topic slightly...but dear me, HMV charge through the f'n nose for WWE DVD's don't they? I mean I've always known it was bad but my girlfriend bought me a WWE set for THIRTY FIVE QUID the other day! I had to take it back out of principle and exchanged it for something cheaper and gave her the difference back.

thats why i use silvervision or cex for my wwe dvds cos hmv prices are mindblowingly outrageous .

an example of this, going off topic, is in the hmv in liverpool 1 they are selling the first series of two and a half men, in a standard clamshell case for a staggering

Silvervision is the best place to buy DVDs from. God, I've been using them since the early 90s.

Always used to love it when Mega Mail would arrive in the post and i'd stare longingly at the newest 'Wrestlefest' release and the like.

It depends if you have the money or not I suppose, I will buy it for the hopefully amazing documentary and classic Wrestlemania matches in remastered HD form for the Blu Ray.

I think it was some of the footage of Superstar undergoing surgery that the BBFC objected to if I remember correctly.

From what I remember, there is also a rather bloody Texas Bullrope Match on there. I seem to remember Graham dragging somebody (might be Dusty Rhodes) by the neck with the bullrope. Rhodes' face absolutely covered in blood.

ADDED: Did a quick Google search..

vs. Dusty Rhodes

At best, they'll just be upscaled and look the same as the DVDs would in an upscaling DVD player.

All of the Wrestlemania's from 18 onwards were also filmed, well on film. That means they can be put into HD, like old movies.
