Joking aside, I cant imagine why anybody would ever want to buy a Big Show dvd

Because he's easily in the top 3 of best big man workers ever, he may even be number 1.

His earlier work was characterised by an ability to not let himself pigeon-hole himself, he always looked at ways he could intersperse his work with some stuff that wasn't traditionally done by big guys. He's never been afraid to bump, either.

The best thing about him is, though, that he's genuinely one of the best 'storytellers' of the last fifteen years. He's a fantastic showman, with oodles of implicit charisma and you genuinely buy everything he's selling. My favourite match of his, in recent times anyway, was a pay-per-view match against Triple H when the match was built around something as seemingly innocuous, yet from a 'show' perspective massively intricate, as Hunter going after Big Shows fingers. With a body part that tiny, and with very few impact moves in play, the trick was in the selling and he did a five-star job. For the first time in years I was genuinely wincing at a wrestling match.

The Big Show is incredible. You are an idiot.

Will you be getting the DVD?

On the Billy Graham DVD I read in powerslam if I recall right that it disappointed in sales and the BBFC would have wanted big cuts from one match which was seen as a significant point and so never bothered.

Its great to see some stuff that gets a cut on the BBFC site, Hussan choking JR with a scarf had to be cut from a promo segment on backlash 05 to get its 15. for example.

I think the Superstar DVD had some kind of choking angle on as well, which was what the BBFC wanted cut. WWE knew that it wasn't going to sell well here at all so they just decided not to release it at all.

The first WWE Ric Flair DVD set had the angle where Terry Funk suffocated him with a carrier bag cut out.

The True Story of WrestleMania will be released in UK/Europe on both DVD and Blu-ray.

The Superstar Billy Graham DVD was submitted to the BBFC but they wanted so much footage to be cut that we thought it compromised the DVD too much to release it.

Really? Even to earn 18 certificate?

Yep - there were chunks that had to be removed completely, and it ruined the DVD so we chose not to release a cut up version.

Wow, I've not heard of that happening very often on a wrestling DVD. Did you get a full report back about it from the BBFC?

What in the name of blue hell is there that can't be even considered appropriate for an 18 year old or older to watch? Some of the disturbing shit I've seen under that cert, or 15 for that matter, I really cant imagine what was removed.

Just fucking release it, BBFC, even if I have to get my mam to go buy it for me. Should be alright, she's 58. Nowt fazes her.

I think it was some of the footage of Superstar undergoing surgery that the BBFC objected to if I remember correctly.

If that's the case then that's even weirder. I had a look on the BBFC website for something about this but couldn't find anything. The Melon Farmers website would be interested to hear about this case.

I'm not planning too and I'm sure they have bigger fish to fry but whats the law's stance on just buying the US release?

I'm under the impression (fuck knows where from) you can import what you like for personal use as long as it would get a BBFC classification if submitted, is that right?

I believe it is not illegal to view and not illegal to own , purchase or import and personally speaking I've never encountered any issues importing from the states or anywhere else and I've ordered the unrated edition of Ichi The Killer which the BBFC butchered to shit.

I have just placed an order for "I Spit on your Grave" the unrated edition which once again, the BBFC had some fun with and it should be with me pretty soon.

That last bit sounds too hypothetical (if something hasn't been submitted, how could customs know it would get a classification), but I've never had any problem importing DVDs from the US. I used to buy quite a lot of region 1 films. And a mate of mine used to buy dodgy hentai DVDs that never got released here, I don't think he ever got any grief with those, except from me because he wouldn't lend me them.

I Spit on your Grave was a crazy film, I have some version of it and even if it is a heavily cut version it still does show some pretty disgusting scenes. I got it in CEX for some research while at uni, we had to do research and write an assignment on horrors in one of my English modules and being someone who usually hates horrors and avoids them like hell I thought well if I have to watch some why not watch this one, our lecturer had shown us a clip and told us how much criticism it had got. In the extras it had the news articles out at the time about people complaining about it, the BBFC's responses to why it wasn't even allowed to be sold here. They had it right up there with illegal pornography and all sorts, yet now it's fine to have it for sale among the feature films, including family ones on a low shelf in a second hand DVD shop. I'm not complaining about that by the way, I just find it very strange how it was seen as such a controversial film yet now there is some version of the film available, even some films which are banned later get the green light after a few years and come out totally uncut.
