The Cum Doctor

Recommended Posts

I watched Surrogates, which is most notable for Bruce Willis' hairdo while in the Surrogate role.

I didn't really enjoy the movie that much. Some of the scenes show that there is a premise for a cracking movie here, but this certainly isn't it. Plus, I thought they had too much stuff in a movie which was about 80 minutes long.

Not very good stuff.

I saw The Men Who Stare At Goats last night.

I really enjoyed it: it was funny without being self-indulgent (which can probably be attributed to the lack of Brad Pitt), had a great soundtrack and was even emotional at one or two points.

Saw V had the weakest central trap, but the bits wit Hoffman and Strahm was very interesting.

It's 'very interesting' because it is, in terms of performances and character devlopment, the equal and opposite of Pacino/De Niro in Heat.

Saw V, which is sadly fresh in my memory because for some reason I watched it on Sky the other week, is quite possibly the most pointlessly awful film in the history of mankind. It seems to spend all of it's time covering stuff that it considers to be interesting/signicant despite the fact that anyone with an IQ over 67 realises that it's bollocks.

They would have been better off cutting everything out and leaving us with just a bunch of random traps, although having said that even they're a bit shit these days - are we supposed to accept that the five victims are all such utter morons that they couldn't grasp the idea that one person could get a key and then undo their lock and then get all of the other keys in about 10 seconds flat? Or that these dickwits can't look at a small tunnel and realise that maybe, just maybe more than one person will fit? And don't anyone come back with some bollocks about how they were chosen because of how selfish they were, being selfish doesn't make you a total moron and doesn't stop you from realising that you can save others at the same time as yourself without any extra risk.

Paranormal Activity - I loved it. It really creeped me out. By the end, i was so on edge i would of jumped at anything. I think it helped that i was previewing the film at the cinema i work at, so i was on my own in a massive cinema. If you watch this and theres people constantly talking and on phones, it will spoil it.

I've since read that some people didnt like the ending, but i thought it as good. And there are two alternate endings. One which sounds great, hopefully all 3 will be on the dvd.

:yinyang: I heard an interesting rumour that the ending that's being shown in the advanced screenings will be different to the ending that'll be on the theatrical release, i don't know exactly in what way different cos i haven't seen it yet but i'll have to look into it some more.

I've watched The men who stare at goats and Harry Brown this week, both brilliant films but obviously in very different ways.

I should know soon whether that rumour is true or not. I work as a projectionist, so if it is true we will have to send the copy we have now back and will get a new copy in a week or so. I hope it is.

Watched Van Damme's "Hard Target" last night. Got to be VD's best. John Woo directed.

Tough Love on Bloodsport or Uni Sol tbh ( still to watch JCVD).. I prefer them both over Hard Target, though Lance Hendricksen and Arnold Vosloo ( The Mummy in, The Mummyand The Mummy Returns) acquit themselves well. John Woo is kinda rehashing Bullet in the Head and Hard Target for Western Eyes.

Not saying Hard Target is a bad film, cos will go outta me way to watch it if its on.... The bike/car thingy, bullet through the eye peice and a few other set pieces are amazing. just not the pinnacle of eithers careers

I am ashamed to admit that the other night i went round a friends house and his sister and some other friends ended up watching The Wedding Date. Worst, i got excited by the guy from Coupling was in it (even though it was pointed out he was in pirates of the carribean) and watched it. Terrible chick flick slush. Some alright points, Jack Davenport chasing his best man at the end was alright. Otherwise avoid like the plague.

Just got back from seeing 2012. As expected, the special effects were absolutely brilliant. But nearly everything else was average or poor. Script was pretty much useless, plot holes you could drive a spaceship through, there was only one character I gave a shit about, and it was at least 30 mins too long. They could've cut a lot of the stuff out from when they arrived in China.

Overall, glad I went to see it for the effects, but probably wouldn't see it again. 6/10

Zack and Miri's your usual Kevin Smith fodder. If you liked Mallrats then watch it, but if you think stuff like that's wank then you're best to avoid it. Personally, i like Smith and found the film slow in parts but still enjoyable. But there's no mistaking it, the critics who said it was 'the best comedy of the year' must be smoking something.

Sky Premiere's this week..

QUOTE

Saturday 14th - Friday 20th November

This Christmas

Redbelt

Twilight

Zack And Miri Make A Porno

88 Minutes

Thoughts on those titles? Thanks!

I've not seen This Christmas or 88 Minutes but from the others I'd go for Zack & Miri. It's not Kevin Smiths best but it does have some really funny moments. A lot hinges on how likeable you find Seth Rogan?

I thought Twilight was utter shite, over stylised tripe..watch The Lost Boys again. Redbelt is a strange one, I saw it on a plane & picked it due to it being about MMA (supposedly) & being written and directed (I think) by David Mamet. It's not good, feature Tim 'The Toolman' Allen as a gangster & an MMA tournament with bizarre rules such as people having to fight with one arm tied behind their back? As Randy Couture commentates. When it was released both Empire & Total Film gave it decent reviews, I'd have rather watched Best of the Best or King of the Kingboxers again.
