Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted September 26, 2013 Moderators Share Posted September 26, 2013 I too had never heard of (and still haven't read any of) the books, but it was all very Roald Dahl reminiscent for me.. Â Probably the whole thing about most of the adults being either stupid or untrustworthy. It's a great formula for kids literature; something they can really get behind. Paid Members Nick Soapdish Posted September 26, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted September 26, 2013 No Love for Man On The Moon? A very underated film and performance. Also rate him in The Majestic

Paid Members LaGoosh Posted September 26, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted September 26, 2013 (edited) Jeff Daniels is undoubtedly the star of Dumb & Dumber. Carrey works hard for his laughs, Daniels laughs come effortlessly. Â Liar Liar is fucking shit. We can all agree on that surely. Paid Members Thunderplex Posted September 26, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted September 26, 2013 Quite enjoyed Liar Liar for a gentle bit of fluff. Can't really think of a Jim Carrey film I dont like. Watched Once Bitten again the other week. Still in love with Karen Kopin 28 years later.
Paid Members niff Posted September 28, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted September 28, 2013 I completely forgot about Bruce Almighty, fantastic feel good film. His Inside the Actors Studio is well worth a watch as well.
Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted October 1, 2013 Awards Moderator Share Posted October 1, 2013 New trailer for the second Hobbit film was released today. The first one had its problems, and while I was always going to go and see this one, I wasn't massively fussed about it, until now. This new trailer's done its job and got me excited for the film. Merzbow
Von Trier's released a bunch of hilarious posters for his new flick. Â http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/10/n...f=entertainment
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted October 10, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted October 10, 2013 (edited) Those posters are already better than the whole of Melancholia. What a fucking awful film that was. Edited October 10, 2013 by Devon Malcolm
Keith Houchen
I didn't mind it. Mind, I watched it when I was signed off during a manic episode.
Merzbow
I don't think I have ever really liked a Von Trier movie, Melancholia was gorgeous to look at though. I can be a bit dense at times so maybe i just don't "get" his work but to me it looks like there isn't actually anything to get.
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted October 10, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted October 10, 2013 It was just incredibly boring. Charlotte Gainsbourg is brilliant in it, as is Kirsten Dunst but NOTHING HAPPENS. And not in a good way.
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted October 10, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted October 10, 2013 (edited) Lars Von Trier is fucking shit and all his films are fucking shit. The ultimate example of a pretentious director. Edited October 10, 2013 by LaGoosh
ultimo the great
Von Trier's released a bunch of hilarious posters for his new flick. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/10/n...f=entertainment That Nicolas Bro shot might have to be my new letterboxd av.  I refuse to believe any film with both Shia Labeouf and Uma Thurman in can be anything more than shit. Really like the first half of Melancholia but the second couldn't end quick enough.  Von Trier is kind of 40% good 60% bad for me, for every great (Dancer in the Dark, Breaking the Waves), and Good (The Idiots, Europa) there's a whole bunch of crap like The Element of Crime, Epidemic, Antichrist, The Boss of It All and sodding Dogville. patiirc
Really like the first half of Melancholia but the second couldn't end quick enough. Â I'm the same on Melancholia, felt like it would be better as a stage play rather than a film at parts. The stuff around the wedding was great, it then went to total turd
