Schwarz was number 2 in the WBO rankings, so he's not a complete can at all.

That dont mean anything, Schwarz was ranked no.2 without beating anyone close to even being ranked in the top 15. Boxing rankings are all politics.

That said, as said above it was the perfect showcase for Fury. I was worried that he'd plod along in control without an urgency but Fury did his job and got Schwarz out in style which is what he had to do, lively crowd too. The Americans lap up all his goofy shit too, they love him.

If you haven't seen the Super Series Cruiserweight semi finals from last night you need too. The first one is a good fight, the second one is an unbelievable farce. How Breidis wasn't disqualified I don't know.

Just watched it. Absolute madness. That referee was awful. Made a right arse of it, first with failing to act on the elbow then somehow allowing Breidis to deliver more punishment for a good 10-15 seconds after the round ended. I saw him signalling that he never heard the bell but it was ringing non-stop for ages. I think he just dropped a massive bollock and completely lost control of the fight.

I thought Johnny Nelson was chatting bollocks after the fight as well, giving Glowacki shit for “milking it” after the elbow. It was clearly more than that, it was the big turning point in the fight and I have no doubt that Glowacki was genuinely badly hurt. If he was just “milking it like the footballers do” then he’d have soon recovered fully once he knew there would be no punishment to Breidis from the ref. But he never did recover. He got dropped again quickly after that elbow (after the bell, to boot) and then was stopped early in the following round. He was never right after that elbow. I thought Nelson’s comments were pretty terrible, to be honest. Especially when he said something like “You can’t just stay down. Not in this game. You might’ve been hurt but you weren’t hurt enough.” Who’s he to decide how hurt Glowacki was? Just because he went down in a sort of delayed reaction doesn’t mean he didn’t have his bell rung. A flush elbow on the jaw from close quarters like that, could seriously fuck you up. And again, he was swiftly dropped twice more shortly after that and the fight was over. It obviously wasn’t just a case of Glowacki acting.

I liked Adam Booth doing the analyst stuff though.

Bob Arum made a wild claim at the press conference that Wilder/Fury 2 will end up doing 4 million plus PPV buys.

....put the bong down Bob.

Just a heads up.

There is a Matchroom card on SKY tonight from York Hall. It's headlined by Conor Benn.

For anyone that didn’t see it, definitely give the Benn fight a watch.

Never heard of Koivula but I thought he may have given Benn a little test after checking out his resume. 1st round, highlighted both fighters flaws. Koivula has no power and Benn has no defence. 2nd round was more of the same until Koivula got in too close and got caught with a hook come uppercut which started his demise.

Benn is now ranked 8th in the WBA standings. Josh Kelly is ranked 9th. If the pair of them fought, I think it would be an easy nights work for Kelly.

Was mentioned earlier in the thread, but well worth 15 mins of your time. Connor Benn looks cool as fuck. Shame he’s not just a bit better, has everything to be a headliner other than the proper skills required. Always great to watch though.

If Joshua manages to get through Ruiz in the rematch. The WBO have made Usyk the mandatory challenger for the world title.

Billy Dib has been named as Amir Khan's new opponent in the exhibition fight in Saudi Arabia. The original opponent Neeraj Goyat was in a car crash. Dib retired last August, then came out of retirement in April and fought at lightweight. This fights at welterweight.

Never learns what? To stop trying to push for a fight that he wants and that would make him a lot of money? Yeah, what a mug he is.

I think its great Khan will be earning a load of dough for his next fight, for fighting a lightweight i’ve never heard off, but much like the Mayweather fight he spoke about for years that was never happening, the Pacquio fight isnt either.

I honestly think Khan should retire, he’s had some brutal KO’s in his career, he has a shit load of cash and has just celebrated his childs first birthday. If he does fight anyone near the top 5 of his division he is getting beat conclusively and putting himself in danger.

The Crawford performance was pretty lame. I’m not on about the ending, people can have their opinion on that, but the rounds previous, he doesnt have his lightening speed anymore, and without that what does he have? Why risk brain damage for a couple of extra digits in the bank.

He was one of the Worlds most exciting fighters to watch for a few years, but now he is a sitting duck.

He's fighting a replacement because the original opponent fell through. The first fight was going to be somewhat historic, and I can absolutely see why he'd take that.

As for the Pacquiao fight, I actually think there's probably a better chance of it happening now than any time in the recent past, and if there's a chance, why shouldn't he do all he can to make it happen? It appears to be a fight that he'll probably look back on in his later years and think "what if?" should it never happen.

If he beats this guy he's fighting and somehow manages to get the Pacquiao bout then fair fucks to him. There's really no better way to go out.

decent MTK Global show free on youtube this evening from 6. Ohara Davies headlines.

Speaking of Pacquiao. His fight with Keith Thurman is on ITV Box Office on July 20th, PPV everywhere.

Im not sure where i stand on Khan right now. I think its pretty clear that his days as an elite fighter are done but he still has a marketable name where he can land big money fights. I dont knock him for the Saudi thing either, if hes getting paid £7 million for fighting a journeyman then god bless him, it should also be a decent indicator of what he has left. The fight is in association with the Super Fight League thing which Khan has stakes in so he can probably continue to fight there and make good money as a bit of a showcase fighter.
