It's just always weird when companies use it in consumer facing copy. Like when The Rock used to call himself a disruptor openly. I think it’s more that it’s a huge fail to use it in consumer-facing copy. It’s totally fine to use in a workplace, but if you’re using phrases to promote something that the vast majority of people won’t understand, you should probably find better wording. Not you specifically, obviously! Quote

Not that I'm encouraging anyone to misuse Blue Light tickets, but a friend who works for the NHS bought tickets for the whole group I went with to the last Wembley show and there were no ID checks. Doesn't mean you can rule it out every time, maybe they spot check, maybe it's stricter some shows than others. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted July 25 Posted July 25 It's definitely a context thing. Language like that works within the workplace but if you're trying to sell something and it doesn't make sense to the average consumer then that's obviously bad marketing. Quote

It's also a sign that you're pretty bad at your job, as one of the main rules of marketing and comms is talking to people on their terms and in a way the audience are likely to respond to I'm not sure AEW fans need their wrestling company to sound like the High Performance Podcast. Edited July 25 by d-d-d-dAz Ironically, I communicated something poorly. Quote
Chico Torres Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Between AI and bullshit marketing corpspeak we are fucking doomed as a race. OK so the T shirt company will give me some shitty pin. Quote

I’ve already spotted someone online sharing the generic link and code, so essentially anyone can grab themselves a £1.50 ticket if they fancy it. Thank you vey much. Nearly bought during the sale and this has saved me 20 bob. Quote

Also, Ironically, Bill Hicks also had a quote along the lines of 'by the way, if anyone here doesn't particularly like sauce or is happy to watch more than one football team... kill yourself'. This might be the quickest anyone's gone to suggesting I kill myself. I just tried to answer a question. I'm not even sure I was being particularly provocative. Just trying to help. I didn't criticise Jeremy Corbyn or call Cesaro a tosser or any of the usual things that annoy people. Edited July 25 by d-d-d-dAz Quote
Paid Members JLM Posted July 25 Paid Members Posted July 25 (edited) I don’t think it’s personal. I agree many industries have cringeworthy corporate speak, but marketing and advertising are particularly powerful universal irritants as we’re bombarded by them so constantly from every conceivable angle. When they say these things out loud it just feels like confirmation of all the worst things you think about the industry. I don’t like to speak for other posters but I really really really don’t think Bacon wants you to kill yourself. Edited July 25 by JLM Quote
Chili Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Honestly I completely lost track of everything when all this talk started. I've re-read it and I still haven't got a sausage about what's going on. Why can't they use normal words with us thickos not on their payroll. Quote

DavidB6937 Posted July 25 Posted July 25 I don't think 'All In' means 'bring ALL the terrible words and phrases IN to one topic'. Quote
