No one defends WWE or any promotion. However some people do feel compelled to mention the morals of WWE whenever anyone posts that they might be looking forward to anything WWE related. But I’m not angry at anyone who still does or watches on the weekly. Every wrestling company has some issues. However I think with WWE they flaunt it in your face more than anyone else, like the Saudi deal, who was running the company and now the things they do openly with Trump and the White House Administration. So it’s easier to justify your dislike or disappointment of them than other companies who require a bit more digging to find their skeletons. So if it’s for you, crack on and have fun. I normally watch the Rumble and Mania every year without fail. I will watch today despite being disappointed of where it’s being held* *that and others will be watching it with me. But there's also the suplimentary point when someone does it that they are doing it on a phone that they are enjoying using which was built with slave labour, and also wearing clothes that the same could probably be said about. So because I use a phone and wear clothes....That means I have to think ALL evil in the world is okay? westlondonmist Posted January 31 Posted January 31 I watch barely any wrestling now. I'd barely watched WWE for years anyway, so not watching it at all hasn't been difficult. When I have dipped in I just couldn't connect to wrestlers. None of them are cool, just kind of annoying. I have watched a few WCW matches on the vault, so I'm still supporting them that way sadly. Weekly TV just isn't how I watch TV anymore. Apart from Traitors I binge watch shows. So I've changed as a person and the wrestling format just doesn't really fit in with that. Im really interested in wrestling so always have an eye on the results no matter the promotion. I'm not going to take a moral high ground. I shop from Amazon, use a music subscription service, don't think about an actor who's in a movie, about the actions of what a musician may be like. Although it feels like wrestling almost revels in being run by a bunch of redneck bigoted old cunts, they constantly remind you and it's not easy to put it to the back of your mind. Quote

RedTwoster Posted February 1 Posted February 1 To answer the original question, we’re living through such a dark time right now that I think people should watch whatever wrestling company they enjoy if it gives them some escapism from world events, or the challenges of life. Equally, if it makes you feel better not to watch a company or a specific show, don’t. It might just be for you, you might know that it’ll achieve nothing, but fuck, crack on with your boycott and don’t feel silly about it. If it’s right for you, that’s more than good enough. There probably isn’t a ‘morally right’ place to watch wrestling, but I don’t think anyone is immoral for watching the vast majority of it. Quote
simonworden Posted February 1 Posted February 1 I'm the biggest proponent of the region of course but I honestly couldn't recommend a company for moral guilt free wrestling watching more so than Grapplemax in Singapore. While many of the other Southeast Asian promotions are pretty clean, Grapplemax literally prides themselves on the "Where everyone is welcome" slogan. They've got a really inclusive roster from all walks of life just working together to put on a fun wrestling product. Nobody seems to worry about each other's religion, political views and nobody appears to be a wrong un. They run around 12-16 shows a year including their NWE trainee shows, Amplify shows from the training center, mat shows and bigger location shows. You're not going to see death defying triple flip, Canadian destroyer powerbombs though tables etc just good solid wrestling with clear characters, loud, interested fans and surprisingly fantastic video segments. The shows all go on Youtube divided up by matches. If you're interested, then I'd take a look at their shows from mid-2025's Fight Club 5 which was a fantastic show held in a Cinema (using wrestling mats) though to the Unity event at the end of the year. A personal favorite match is from Pro Wrestling Festival 2 - Aussie Aussie Aussie Vs Joker & Karas. Quote

It's directly because of the kind of things we talk about with the moral highground, but not to take a stand or anything like that, it's just depressing. Watched WWE relentlessly as a teen, trained and worked in British wrestling for a bit, got my wife hooked on PROGRESS and was one of those wankers who put our name on their canvas as an anniversary thing for us, brought a Fight Club show to the NEC when I was running Insomnia, and religiously watched AEW through the pandemic. Then WWE turned out to be full of and run by wrong 'uns, PROGRESS and Fight Club had similar depressing turns, and then what should have been the peak of my AEW fandom - Hanger's big title win - was deflated by the debut of Jay Lethal an hour earlier. The way our global society is built I think it's virtually impossible to have a consistent moral stance and still interact with the world and provide for yourself and your family. So I'm not tuned out because I'm better than that, but just because they can't seemingly resist throwing it in your face over and over again. Quote
