Paid Members Gus Mears Posted December 1, 2025 Paid Members Posted December 1, 2025 Moan about coughs, colds and covid. Talk about the flu if you want. Anyone else permanently ill this winter? I moved to London in February, managed to avoid getting ill until Autumn, felt smug about my robust immune system, and have had about 3 days of good health since that point. It's dire. Constantly knackered, constantly coughing, constantly with skin around the eyes like I'm cosplaying as Road Warrior Animal. Worst November/December I've had in ages. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted December 1, 2025 Posted December 1, 2025 Definitely had something since beginning of November. I blame commuters and my kids. I never stand a chance this time of year. Quote
Paid Members hallicks Posted December 1, 2025 Paid Members Posted December 1, 2025 Covid in early October, then flu about 10 days ago, and that’s with the damn flu jab 2 weeks prior. I’m sure December will also be a big old barrel o’ laughs. Quote
Paid Members BomberPat Posted December 1, 2025 Paid Members Posted December 1, 2025 I had/have Long Covid - it took me the better part of six months to really get over Covid the one time I definitely had it, and for a long time I would be out of breath just from a walk around the block or hanging the washing out, had chest pains constantly, and just couldn't do much of anything. One of the lasting effects is that if I catch any hint of a cold, it completely kicks my arse in ways it never used to. I work in a university, so spent most of October with some kind of freshers' flu or other, and am just getting over a nasty head cold, but am still coughing and sputtering all morning. I basically seem to spend half the year with hayfever and the rest with a cold, with maybe a couple of weeks non-consecutively of good health. Quote
SaitoRyo Posted December 1, 2025 Posted December 1, 2025 I've had something for the past three weeks. Daily phlegm, typically quite knackered and just generally not feeling close to 100%. Thought I was over it, but I did a day of hard manual labour on Saturday and feel like it's set me back. I hope it fucks off sooner than later, as I'm back over for Christmas and want to be at my best. Having a five and seven year old basically means every winter is dealing with the various seasonal illnesses that plague the schools. Sick of it. Get rid of it. Quote
Paid Members Bus Surfer Posted December 1, 2025 Paid Members Posted December 1, 2025 I was fortunate to contract Lyme disease from a tick bite in Canada and have been incredibly rough since the end of August. 2 months of Antibiotics seemed to help with the overall Lethaargy and foggyness, but then I picked up something the first week of November at a gig and I've been rough ever since. I've had a Flu jab and have done a Covid Test which came back negative, but I've never had a cold that hung around this long. Quote
Paid Members waters44 Posted December 1, 2025 Paid Members Posted December 1, 2025 My other half always gets the flu jabs and loads up on the vitamins and gimmicks but always seems to be ill! She’s downstairs right now coughing like a champ. Whereas I’m here licking door handles with no sniffle in sight. I was rough with something back in Feb 24 so I do feel bad for you all, hope you all get better soon! Quote
Members SuperBacon Posted December 1, 2025 Members Posted December 1, 2025 I have started getting heart palpitations almost daily so nice to know you all! Maybe it's my crisp intake. Quote
RIDDUM_N_STYLE Posted December 1, 2025 Posted December 1, 2025 Been flying around my family for the last month or so, I had a chest infection at the start of November, my mum got it briefly as I was recovering (she also had COVID and a cold around September which had her in hospital for a few hours), my pregnant sister has had a couple of bugs, my nephews have had it over the last week and now my youngest niece is sick Quote
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted December 2, 2025 Paid Members Posted December 2, 2025 I've had about a quarter of a cold for about 3 months. Can count on one hand the number of days I haven't had some sort of cough, sniffle or nose like a dripping tap. Had 1 or 2 days of feeling really poorly but generally myself just with a permanent annoying bit of illness. Getting on my nerves. Quote
Tamura Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 Similar to Pat, I'm struggling with long COVID. Splitting down cages at work became a nightmare, since COVID lifting a single 20kg box of bananas left me out of breath. I explained all this to work of course, and they just doubled down on their demand to maintain the required perfomance. So I got the doctor to sign me off sick for a month, which resulted a meeting where they bent over backwards to take some tasks off me in order to get me back to work. Of course it would have been to everyone's benefit if they'd done this when I'd originally asked them to start with, especially as every meeting with bosses ends with the question "is there any support you need from us?". Paid Members Gus Mears Posted December 7, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted December 7, 2025 Have gone from throat agony to full blown cold and not being able to breath with perhaps two days between. Misery inducing. Quote
