Good wrestlers you are bored of.

With wrestlers having much longer careers these days it feels like they're around forever when in the past it felt like most guys had 2-5 good years and then they were pretty much done on the main stage. 

So who are guys you know are great, have enjoyed loads but now just don’t care about?

For me, one name specifically jumps out - Kevin Owens.

I love him. He's fantastic. Great promo guy, genuine personal charisma and likability and had loads of fun matches. But I've also been watching him since almost the start of his career. I first saw him in 2004! I saw him multiple times in Orpington in 2006. I've seen probably 200+ Kevin Owens/Steen matches over two decades. I'm thrilled for his success.

But I just can't do it anymore. I feel like I've seen him do everything a wrestler can do about 25 times over. It's all one big blur now.

Who can you no longer stand due to no fault of their own?

Brilliant idea for a thread. I’d felt exactly as you did about Owens until his recent heel turn, and he’s won me over again much against my expectations.

For me, it’s Charlotte Flair. Unlike Owens, she doesn’t have the mic skills to freshen up her character, and she’s had feuds and matches against almost every top female star WWE has to offer. The prospect of her winning a title again does nothing for me, and I struggle to care about any of her matches.

If she ever chose to jump to AEW, the fresh environment would probably spark a level of interest in me; but even then there’s the looming dread of a potential Mercedes/Charlotte match, something I have no desire to see.

To give an AEW answer, I’d say Adam Copeland. Edge as a heel on Smackdown in the mid 2000s is one of my favourite ever characters. I loved his run with Vickie Guerrero. Now though, he’s kind of dull. Christian remains a brilliant character and wrestler - arguably Tony Khan’s best ever signing from ‘the other side’ - but I struggle to care about anything Copeland does. He’s still very good in ring, but as a character he’s beyond bland.

Charlotte can fuck right off.

To be fair, I'm done with Bayley too. She's good, but I've seen her do everything I could conceivably see out of her as a babyface first time round, and this time she's been bland as anything. Her heel run was good but.. it's been done. There's nothing left. I have no interest in anything involving her anymore. If the stars lined up for her vs (oh the irony) Charlotte vs Becky vs Sasha one day, somewhere, I'd watch it. But thats it. Or the four of them vs the rest of Damage CTRL as was, for instance. But otherwise, not interested.

Agree with Charlotte, Bayley and…urgh, Cope. It would be a big step back, but I’d prefer to see Bayley revert to hugger Bayley just to see if there’s any life left in that version. 

Nakamura. Annoyingly the first match he had in WWE was his best by a country mile. But I still enjoyed him from time to time over the years. But this new gimmick isn’t working at all. I can’t think of a single opponent I’d be intrigued to see him against.

Randy Orton. I don’t want to see heel Randy against Cody. The thought of him reverting back to his evil ways fills me with dread. I probably wouldn’t be against him just quietly retiring.

I know it's been the best part of a decade, but the difference in the incredibly over Nakamura that won the 2018 Rumble and the one that entered to little fanfare in 2025 and did nothing of note was startling. 

I know he's the current US Champion (as if that means anything) and I know he's tried to do something a bit different of late, but it just feels like there's nothing there these days. If Vince was still in charge, I'd expect to see his name in the post-WrestleMania round of budget cuts tbh.

My brother did comment on that music Pat. He suggested that whoever recorded it was "Doing the eyes" as they recorded it because it was so racist. He also said that Penta was so clumsy that he was Sin Cara with tattoos and a different outfit. Hard to fault either opinion.

Genuinely laughed at this, mainly because my brother is the most trustworthy person I know, and because I've always considered Tamworth to be the scar of the Midlands, sorry, on the Midlands.

COPE for me, He was beginning to bore me in 2021, with his GRIT shite, and then he beat everyone, and then dipped when he had to put someone over. And he's done nothing in AEW apart from that feud with Cage, which lets face it, was all Christian, that was really good.

I don't want to reply to every post saying they weren't that good but I'd certainly say I've never found Charlotte to be half as great as some think, though she's had her moments and Nakamura has been on autopilot for about 7 years.

Orton is a good should. I absolutely respect the style he's adopted to prolong his career, and he has fundamentals that I wish 97% of the rest of US wrestlers had, but he's just been so boring for so long. The only great Randy Orton match was the Mick Foley match in 2004. He's had a million good ones but nothing that's ever been anywhere near as exciting. I watched some of his stuff with Christian and Cena back a good while ago. It's absolutely fine. But I still stand by the fact that he's only had one great match.

Personal opinion but KO should have gone to AEW. Everyone who has been doing the same thing for a decade should. The same is true the other way around. KO is brilliant but there's only so many times you can do the same thing. Again, I respect the man for getting paid and prolonging his career. Good luck to him. But it's not interesting in the slightest.

Agree with Copeland. I'd gone off Edge a long time ago. I had a modicum of interest in his comeback and a touch of interest in him turning up in AEW but it wore off quickly both times. He's absolutely fine. He's good at what he does, he's in incredible shap for his age and I'm delighted that the guy is healthy enough to work again but I don't really care if I see it or not.

FTR are a tremendous tag-team who have done everything I want to see in AEW. They're the reverse KO. They need to pop back over to WWE and give it the big 'un there. They're diminishing returns where they are.

I know it's not a popular opinion, but, I've never liked Cena. I find him so uninspiring.

 

Cody Rhodes feels so forced to me. I was glad he 'finished his story', but part of me wishes he'd just clear off. 

 

There's probably loads more, and on the flip side, I'm probably really unfair.

I’ve thought of a really obvious one, someone I’d not considered because of out-of-the-ring controversies.

But even if he’d not been named in the Vince McMahon lawsuit, I wouldn’t have cared if I’d never have seen another Brock Lesnar match again.

He’d become stale as a character and performer, and his apparent lack of interest in wrestling meant there was no real scope for him to reinvent himself. I’m not sure what reinvention would look like for Lesnar anyway. 

I’m not even bothered about the Gunther match. Sheamus might have been a fun opponent for him, but even that would barely interest me - and I’m a big fan of Sheamus these days.

If he left WWE and somehow ended up in AEW, I still wouldn’t care. It would be the same Brock Lesnar in a new environment, and it’s the ‘same Brock Lesnar’ I’m utterly fed up of.
