I’m absolutely delighted to see Athena make her return to the main show, and she’s absolutely the right person to take the belt from Mercedes, freeing her up to face Toni in the near future.

It's a curious one for me because unless you've been following Athena's work, she hasn't really been built up as a strong contender to Mercedes and it's a bit random compared to other people they have on the AEW roster.

It should be a big moment. I hope it plays out well. It's just a bit of an issue with the ROH stuff. She's done some amazing work there that a lot of people won't have seen and therefore may not be as invested in her as they should be.

Anyway it's only a small issue. It doesn't take much to build her up with recaps etc. So hopefully they can do that.

Toni Storm must have the peripheral vision of Rocky Balboa to have gotten jumped on the apron by Penelope Ford. Proper case of “if not in the shot, they don’t exist”

Except she was literally in the dark whilst Toni was in the spot light. Boo Urns to you.

Great Collision, they are on a hell of a run right now. And Kevin Knight looks a great signing to boot.

Penelope was in the dark and Toni was staring directly into a spotlight - she wouldn't have been able to see it!

I haven't been watching ROH at all so the Athena stuff doesn't feel like a big deal to me yet but perception is reality and as long as they push her like big deal then she will be one soon enough.

Liking the importance put on the Owen Cup this year, feels like it's going to be cracking.

So why didn’t she jump her behind, where she couldn’t see her? Presumably she’d death too unless Ford tiptoed up the steps and onto the apron.

Yeah I’m probably being a pedantic sod

Yeah, probably.

But from a kayfabe perspective, the front gave a clear shot to the face and Megan Bayne attacked from behind. Classic heel sneak attack tactics.

How have you coped watching wrestling with their invisible camera technique and yes this is outstandingly pedantic. Did you actually enjoy the spot or did this logic gap make you not enjoy it?

I did enjoy* the promo prior to the attack yes, but being in a spotlight or not I’m calling bullshit that Toni unless she either blind or death wouldn’t have noticed two people coming in to attack her.

* To the extent I can enjoy Toni Storm as I don’t think she or the gimmick is anywhere near as good as people make it out to be

I mean to be pedantic, it wouldn't matter if you noticed them or not as you character on a fake wrestling show would be directed not too for the purpose of the segment.

That’s true, but I feel like there’s been enough chatter about her online for a while - I suspect a lot of people will be aware of her ROH work, even if they haven’t seen it, and as @LaGoosh said, perception is reality - and I think that perception exists among enough people for her to feel like a strong contender.

I don’t think it’s a guarantee that Athena will win, though - particularly when you consider that All In is on the horizon. I could see them wanting to head into that show with Storm and Mone as their champions, unless they want to run Storm/Mercedes there.

Of all the things that happen in wrestling every week all year long for as long as it has existed that are unrealistic, unbelievable and stretch the rules this really isn't worth this reaction at all.

Basically she's focused on talking, staring into a spotlight (have you ever had a spotlight on you? You genuinely can't see shit), surrounded by darkness and a crowd full of people making noise - is it really that hard to accept that in the moment you might not notice someone very quickly sneaking up on you? Your complaints never even crossed my mind.

Sometimes shit just looks good. Sometimes ideas are just fun to do.

Really fun episode of Collision.

Loved the finish to Hayter Vs. Starkz.

Mone Vs. Athena should absolutely be the All In match, imo. Have Mone and Athena either cost each other their tournament matches, or go out in a draw against each other.

Seriously though is Mone actually contracted to only wrestle in regular singles matches? I wouldn't be so down on her if she actually changed things up a little. Even a tag match or two.

Not sure who I would want to see against Toni at All In, though. Rosa or Statlander perhaps. I was thinking that Mina could enter the tournament and win but she's already challenged both Storm and May, in the past.

Or maybe we could actually see a shock Bayne win at Dynasty.

The Cru are perfectly fine as a pair of mouthy little pricks.

Probably the most interesting FTR have been in ages.

Why anyone allows Deeb to talk on TV is one of life's great mysteries. She's awful.
