Got tickets for this but my mate has dropped out last minute. I was going to bail but holy shit, I can’t miss Claudio vs Takeshita so it looks like I’m flying solo.

I'm not interested in him returning to AEW to form ANOTHER faction.

Tony Khan reaches over and picks up his phone. The message on the lock screen reads:

"I've got it! THE JUDAS SYNDICATE!"

Sorry if this has already been reported but just saw this and thought it would be of interest.

I hope it’s just a one-off novelty. The last thing Tony Khan needs is to spread himself even more thin, and extend tapings even further. I’d love to go to an AEW taping when they’re in the UK, but I’m extremely hesitant to given how long they tend to be.

By the sounds it was a "holiday special" request he asked TBS for. I wouldn't mind once a year with some backstage bits with the better talkers, couple of fun multimans and some highlight packages. An AEW Christmas.

Was at the show tonight. Really good show overall. Far too much ROH action though. The Dark card was:

Spoiler

It was very much a card for a UK audience.

Match 1- Isla Dawn vs Marina Shafir.

Match 2- The Conglomeration (Cassidy, Roddy and Dorada) against Mark Andrews, Kid Lykos I and II

Match 3- The Death Riders (Moxley, PAC and Yuta) vs The Grizzled Young Veterans and Nathan Cruz.

I thought he got the structure spot-on this time, to be fair.

Two ROH matches just to get the crowd going, then Collision, then 3 ROH matches then 3 Dark matches was much much better than putting all the Dark/ROH shit upfront and making us wait hours for Collision, which is what I expected.

It meant if you're not that arsed about ROH you could watch Collision and make it home in time for Match of the Day, which is what most of my row did.

I thought it was a really fun show for the most part. Speedball vs Jet and Claudio/Takeshita were great. I can't remember their being anything bad on the show come to think of it.

Can't believe Big Bill didn't get an appearance after Cardiff went crazy for him last year.

Willow Nightingale and Skye Blue are ridiculously attractive in the flesh.

I can confirm wrestling fans are still the worst, or at least the ones I end up sitting next to. 'Dean Ambrose' chants in 2025, how funny!

Takeshita/Castagnoli is a late shout for match of the year for me, I absolutely loved it. I suppose the draw should have been predictable given the titles they both hold, but I didn’t see it coming if I’m completely honest, I was really invested in the whole thing. If the CC wasn’t for a title, and AEW wasn’t ridiculously stuffed with belts, I’d say Takeshita was the obvious choice to be the next World Champion. He feels like a star on the rise.

I’ve said it before though, AEW has a Don Callis problem. And it’s a big one. The show started off with Don Callis on commentary, then immediately went into a promo about the Don Callis feud with the Bucks (side note: why are The Bucks wrestling for money they’ve already won and had already retrieved? It’s so dumb) and then he was on commentary again during the Takeshita match. I’d hazard a guess and say we must have heard more from Don Callis in 2025 than any other wrestling character in either AEW or WWE, excluding commentators. He dominates programming in such a destructive way, I wish he’d just fuck off.

Good to see we’re getting another all-star women’s tag match. A real rarity in AEW.

Bailey/Knight was OK, but it wasn’t as spectacular as I perhaps expected from these two. I don’t really understand why Rene Paquette and Tony Khan both picked Knight as someone likely to break out in 2026, he’s a good wrestler but he has limited promo skills, and there are far better prospects on the roster - including Speedball, who at least has a unique wrestling style. We’ll see, though. Maybe he’ll get better on the mic.

I didn’t like the finishing sequence in the main event. I hate it when wrestlers stop paying attention to their opponent to the point it’s obvious it’s going to backfire. When does that ever happen and this doesn’t result in cheating? It’s really lazy. I’d like to see AEW announce they’re cracking down on interference and reverse match results if it happens. Cut it out entirely. We’re at the point where you don’t expect a finish to come in most Death Rider/Callis Family matches until that happens and it’s a shame.

I enjoyed the show on the whole, but the overall picture in AEW is still a bit uninspiring. Here’s hoping they figure things out quickly in 2026 and get back to where they were for the vast majority of 2025.
