AEW booking is so good at the moment that I have no idea what the next few months looks like but I can think of loads of different options and they're all exciting.

If they do a Blood and Guts this year I can easily see them doing a Deathriders vs Mega Babyface Squad of Hangman/Swerve/Ospreay/Darby/Kingston in a few months time.

The sooner Fletcher gets the TNT title and has 15 minute bangers every week the better. I would slow build to a Takeshita babyface turn and have them feud for that belt.

I now desperately want this.

Considering the Death Rider run has always felt like Moxley’s mini version of The Bloodline, it’s quite funny that he’s actually going to get away with it.

Similar to Roman’s title run, everyone is going to ignore how it was mostly rubbish for the longest time. Miraculously, just like with The Bloodline, a couple of incredible babyfaces are going to create the final crescendo when he’s eventually dethroned, wiping everyone’s memory of the torturous bollocks they had to sit through to get here. Sami Zayn and Cody pulled the wool over everyone’s eyes with Roman, drawing a line under the dog shit three years that came before it, filled with endless Brock Lesnar rematches and unsatisfying, bullshit run-in finishes. Same’s happening here, with Hangman, Swerve and Ospreay landing the plane for Mox, making everyone forget the bleach poisoning, cat burglar cosplay and kidnapping.

Imagine a Wrestlemania 40-style Avengers Assemble, only instead of it being whoppers like The Undertaker, which never really made any sense, we could get Willow, Omega, Swerve, Ospreay, Darby and even Kingston turning the tide and helping Hangman Adam Page win the title and fix the timeline. That amazing closing shot of all the babyfaces after Anarchy in the Arena suddenly feels like a dress rehearsal!

But yeah. These Shield boys keep landing on their feet. Mox and Roman having their crap Title reigns saved and retconned by Super Babyfaces. Seth being employed despite being absolutely dreadful at everything, forever. Lucky bunch of lads, the lot of them.

I’m so out of the loop with AEW but I still have my Hangman Adam Page figure in my game’s room and I keep up to date with mostly just him.

”It’s not you, I thought it was me but it’s not me, it’s him” might just have me back in the loop. Wow.

Terrible take. You've made him cry now.

It might just be because he saw this promo:

Brilliant stuff.

There’s obviously every chance a Brody King promo would get him crying, but that would be for a totally different reason.

(All joking aside, I do like Brody, but I think Alexander is more likely to work his way up the card and become a top star - I’ve really started to appreciate what he brings to the table)

Supes, you're missing the biggest trick here. Willow deals with Marina, Darby takes out Claudio, Gabe Kidd gets involved and Swerve stops him, then all that's left is that prick Yuta and not Eddie Kingston but BRYAN DANIELSON comes to take him out. Yuta is copying all of Danielson's stuff, the stage is set for him to get his head kicked in.

The crowd is gonna explode when Swerve makes the save then the world is gonna end when Ospreay takes out Swerve and gives Mox another years worth of shite and a briefcase.

Enjoyed that show, the high points (the opening promo, a consistent highlighting of the women’s division throughout) balancing out the few segments that felt like The Worst Of Collision (Frat House, Adam Cole).

A minor thing - not keen on that German suplex Josh Alexander did on Brody where he traps his arms first. Looks like there’s no way to break your fall on that move except with your neck?

Ugh, I hate myself for this, but I see something in the Frat House. They're all serviceable workers besides that Jameson prick, but we saw what Ricochet was able to do with himself and grouping up a load of middling acts together might have something in it. They're a damn sight better than the Trustbusters etc, so I actually think there is something there with them as a pair of trios goons for that division.

I also enjoyed the Frat House quite a lot and if AEW is willing to spend the TV time on them I can easily see them being a fun little lower card jobber act. A modern day Mean Street Posse, Kaientai or whatever. But with how AEW typically books I'm not sure it'll happen. The Collision card this week is pretty boring, I'd happily take a segment of the Frat House out partying and getting pledges than a Rapongi Vice match, for example.

Actually, now you mention it, with Ricochet looking for a crew, The Frat House might be the kind of act that adds to his character rather than takes away from it.

They'd drag him down. Way down. It'd be entertaining, so I guess it depends what you think Ricochet's ceiling is as to whether that's the way to go. If you think he's above the TNT Title mix as a World Title challenger who mixes with, albeit loses to, Kenny, Ospreay, Hangman, Swerve, Moxley, etc, then the needs to stay clear but if the TNT Title mix with losers like Paragon is about it for him, then I'd go for it.

It’s right there for the taking.

Strowman as the massive bodyguard for this current dickhead Ricochet character would be mint. Imagine how high Strowman could throw Darby! He could throw him right back up Everest!

I don't think Ricochet needs a faction, but he said the word "crew" like three times in that promo, so I'm expecting it's sticking him with CRU. They could pull off an "obnoxious manosphere influencer and his hangers-on" vibe, and hopefully actually do something in the Trios division (I live in hope).

The Frat Party I just think got way too much time spent on showing video clips, then an in-ring promo, to explain their gimmick and introduce them to the audience, so it ended up being a very muddied segment - they're a one-note gimmick, they don't need that much prep. It might have worked better if the videos of them out partying had been drip fed earlier in the show, and the promo aired backstage prior to the match, but it's a very AEW thing to just have everything in one segment rather than spaced out like that. I'm a big believer that the lower down the card you get, the more cartoonish your gimmick should get - the main event guys get enough promo time to play with nuance and shades of grey, but if you only get four or five minutes on TV then your character needs to be big and obvious to maximise those minutes; Frat Party could fit in well as an undercard act in that respect, if their only job is to be obnoxious and get squashed, but if they become a pushed and featured act, then it'll wear thin very quickly.

On Hangman and Ospreay, as happy as I was for Hangman to win, I wasn't sure how well it fit his story, as I felt his mistake was in always thinking that the next win would fix him, and he hadn't taken stock of why it didn't and looked at fighting for something bigger than himself. That one promo pretty much wrapped up all of those points - you had Ospreay anointing him as the guy to take back the AEW Title on behalf of AEW, not just for himself, and Hangman masterfully saying how he had learned that just like victory is fleeting, so is defeat, and you just get up and move on and do better. The best babyface going.
